Sorry I already posted this in NL earlier but only had 2 replies & am hoping to get more feedback here as we are off to a weekend rally at the begining of June and need a new rug. Much as I would like a thermatex rug I really don't think that I can justify spending that amount on one at the moment (need new body protector and a few other items etc) What about similar rugs in other makes ? such as Weatherbeeta Thermocell or the Coolmasta. Any suggestions/feedback gratefully accepted. Many thanks

had a coolmasta, nice, but not in the same league!
£100 compared to about £30. Thermatex kept my clipped boy warm in winter as a day rug. The coolmasta got more use late spring, summer and autumn time.

Quite like the look of mark todd coolex, very similar, but not sure if there is much difference in the price.

Quite impressed with weatherbeeta fleece, got them embroidered in the binding colour, so popcorn colour on the navy/popcorn fleece. Looks great, good fit also and lots cheaper and to be honest probably get more wear than the thermatex.

xxhave fab time at the rallyxx

Thanks for that Samuelhorse. No the coolmasta isn't much cheaper. Wish I could find someone who has the weatherbeeta thermocell for an opinion though perhaps the fleece might be an option.

I love my coolmasta rug its brilliant, I also have an aerborn thermatex rug which is brill, i got it direct from the aerborn factory and its a slight second (Ive looked at it and cannot find the fault!) it was only £30 so same price... are you anywhere near the thermatex factory can you not get a second from them?

Only wish we were ! what a bargin. We are a bit rural ! Theres not much in the way of tack shops even ! Thanks for the info

Thanks will try and find the number / website

Any feedback on the Weatherbeeta Thermocell ? anyone as this is the cheapest type I can find ? though I know that buying the cheapest is not always the best buy !

I have a coolmasta, and although haven;t owned it during a summer yet I don't use it much at all. So far I have prefered to use a weatherbeeta fleece, which i think is brilliant (the one with the reinforced shoulder). It seems to wick moisture away really quickly and well (judging by the damp patches on the outside within 5mins). I'm sure it has more warmth as well once dry/whilst drying. I've used it a lot as a cooler, under rug and as a smart travel rug. The coolmasta is very thin, and tbh doesn't "feel" very nice (bought it online without seeing first). I'm going to try and use it more in the summer and if I don't, then it's going on ebay!
