How do Peeps!,

Maybe a daft question I know but.......;)

Does anyone have any suggestions to what one can add for extra stickability on the saddle??

I already wear sticky bums and I am very careful of what I clean my saddle with and rarely clean the inside of my boots but still seem to slide about like some kind of grease monkey. It maybe doesn't look like it but feels like it at times that I'm sliding about. Have thought industrial strength superglue and a seat belt may work but perhaps a bit unorthodox and not on the BE approved tack list?

I have heard of wax like products that some people put on to give that "stickability" factor and also certain seat covers on saddles. So does anyone know of anything that works and worth trying so when the FC decides to do his double axle pike dive into the water jump me a** is stuck to the saddle??

Thank you!:)

Probably not much use to you but I find that the suede seat in my saddle does add that extra stickyness - I've had these saddles for years and when I tried a K&M leather saddle for the first time in ages I felt like I could easily slip over the side.

Perhaps you can fashion some sort of suede cover to see if that works?

I treated my saddle with a leather balm from decathlon without thinking, went and rode in my suede seat jods and I have never felt so stuck into the saddle- practically had to peel myself off! :-)

See my dressage saddle is just a suede wintec pro and feel secure in it apart from there is a small leather/plastic bit at the end of the flap and always feel my leg slides right back off it!!

Apologies but just had one of those comedy visions where you are walking down the yard with the bottoms of your breeches still stuck on the saddle!!:D:D

Before you have your saddle changed to suede, try

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mighty-Grip-Powder-Dancing-Accessory/dp/B000CSP7XU

'Mighty Grip' its been designed for pole dancers :D and for golfers. you put the powder on your leather golf gloves and it will help you grip the club. I used it on my riding boots and it worked!

apparently if you fancy pole dancing (or if you do it already!!??!!!) you use it on your palms to prevent slippage down the pole :D

Sporty Halft Spray or for a cheap DIY version Shock Waves hair gel (only need a bit but will leave your saddle and inside boots rather sticky...ok very sticky!, yet wipes away with a damp cloth.

I'm loving the decathlon leather balm (yellow tin pot?) that I picked up because it was so cheap!!! Will be going back for more.

Can't say I've found it sticky but the I don't wear full seat suede!

OP , horse health wessex do a grippy gel seat seat cover that might be worth looking at

JJ was riding my horse at an event a few years ago and moaning about how slippy my saddle was. She sent me off to Stirlingshire to buy some sticky stuff - Alene didn't have any in stock so told me to tell said Jockey to pee herself :D

(Bagsy not sit down in the lorry next to you afterwards though :p )

I used to use this all the time, it is really sticky, spray on saddle and inside of boots before mounting.:D

Brilliant thanks!!

Mmm suppose it keeps his plaits in so must be pretty sticky!!!:)

Now I maybe nearing middle age:rolleyes: but not quite at the stage of losing my faculties!!Should be ok though as we will all be going home in your swanky lorry!!:p

since the last time i came off i landed on my feet and still ended up in A&E, i now have a new-found major obsession about staying in the plate...
Kerrits full-seat jodhs really are 'the stickiest thing since sticky the stick insect got stuck on a stick bun', as Blackadder said.

I've got the Flex Tights, the Channel Rib Flex Tights, (both perfect for Spring and Autumn, maybe a little warm for high summer) and they are reassuringly super-sticky. I have honestly thought I should have been a goner a number of times due to Extreme Duck Avoidance Manoevres by my girls, but they've kept me in the plate. (I thought panicky pheasants were the worst thing you could meet out hacking, but quacky panicky ducks flapping out of drainage dykes are even worse.)
The Sit Tight Supremes are lighter weight, and a bit of an acquired taste (they squeak a bit against the saddle, and are very lightweight stretchy fabric so not the most flattering, but über-sticky so I forgive them!) and the winter-weight Sit Tight and Warms are great too, thermal and sticky, perfect.
Not expensive, wear well, mega-comfy, and most importantly, über-stickyness guaranteed...

My competition breeches are Caldene ones, bought in the sale because they were cheap, but they have a pvc/rubbery type seat - not just a suede sticky bum seat. They are mega-sticky (if a bit squeaky) and I swear are the only reason I managed to stay on when I took my baby to his first dressage (fell pony does airs above the ground and bucks for england in the collecting ring - think thellwell crossed with tigger!).

a bar of glycerine saddle soap rubbed directly onto the inside of your boots will do the trick, a trick I picked up from the Irish Army lads, cheap and works :-)

Thanks for that K now going to think of Blackadder everytime I'm flying into a water fence!!

Caldene's all the way already as notice the difference when jumping in cheapo ones at home but I wonder if they lose the stickiness eventually as they don't feel as good when first bought?

Surfboard wax - cheap as chips and works well with no problems.

Mmm alas we are quite a bit away from any surfing land!!

Soaking wet jeans and a leather saddle - very much a peel your self off case ;)

I'm sure BE would accept a nice white pair ;) :p

Thanks FF yeah lets put it to the test to BE?? Then again refuse to wear white jods so not sure if could bring myself to white jeans ever?:)

Ah, mine are almost brand new as I only started competing with baby pony last year (and he's only been out about 4 times!). Hopefully the sticky wont wear off (or he'll have calmed down by the time it does!).
