As title really. He's not malicous, just doesn't like it very much, and clamps his tail down and occasionally lifts a back leg!

Is there any creams that can numb it or make the hairs come out easier or something just to help? Thanks guys!

Main Rakes from smart Grooming are just fantastic, i use it on my show hunter and it does a great job without any pain at all and far less fiddly than the old solo combs and doesnt leave the hair all stubbly and coarse.

If he dont like it why do it? I second the mane rakes, if you get one with as many teath as you can find (20) more if possable, this will give a real professional pulled tail look. Clipper Sharp do them too.

Ahh, may have to invest in a mane rake then! He didn't kick up any fuss when i took it from a full tail to a pulled one, but now gets grumpy when i try to tidy it up, and after being in hopsital last year from a kick in the stomach (different horse, and reason though) it doesn't make me too keen on standing behind him!

G's tail bleeds if I pull it and generally goes patchy (that might be something to do with my lack of grooming skills...but his mane is pulled with no problems).

Smart Tails rakes are fantastic. I'd get the Fine one for a TB.

or clove oil that is a natural anaesthetic, rub a small bit in a leave for about 5 min (wear gloves) and the start to pull works on manes to
other than that i settle for a tail rake aswell
