suggestions lameness

my shire x has gone lame on his back leg, i fetched him in from field today and noticed he seemed to be clicking at the first joint above the hoof, it soon dissapeared but hes struggling to weight bare on it, ive checked for the obvious and there is no heat, swelling, cuts, lumps or bumps etc, anybody any ideas or advice please. (if hes no better after weekend ile get the vet out)

If he is struggling to bear weight on it he needs the vet now IMO.

just called the vet and as its not an emergency he will call tomorrow. i hope he will be ok.

Fingers crossed it is something simple like a foot abcess. Horses- nothing but worry and expense!

If it is a little swollen then hose it down, and then apply a bandage, then CALL THE VET IMMEDIATELY!! It could be a stress fracture or something like that. Hope he gets better soon!

there is no swelling or heat at all, im off back to yard to have a check on him i think.

I THINK LIKE LZT i t could be an abcess, there have been an increase in abcesses with all the wet weather we are having recently , hope he is better soon.

been and checked on him, poor boy hobbled to the gate but then he seemed a lot better for getting it moving, checked him over again was a little heat, hosed him down, took him for a little plod to get him moving, pampered him and kept him in for a luxury night of dry and warm, will go down in morning and do the same again and put him in field till vet arrives.
