Hi! I will be visiting Scotland from outside the UK this spring. I have flexibility when it comes to location but am aiming for anywhere around Stirling, out to Fife, but no further north than Angus. I would also consider Galloway. I want to turn it into an equestrian vacation where I take lessons and go on guided hacks each day (I am not that experienced but can w/t/c but it's always been in an arena). Does anyone have any suggestions on a riding school that would be good for this?
At the same time, if someone told me that there was an amazing place in England or Ireland, I am happy to consider. FYI - I am not interested in a group vacation like Globetrotters - I like to do things on my own time.
Thanks!

What a lovely idea for a holiday. I'm sure there'll be other suggestions coming along but here's a couple to be going on with! 😀

Crieff Hydro Hotel has a riding centre. They do lessons and hacks. They are BHS so will have to have a reasonable standard. I used to go regularly but not recently. The main instructor THEN was Sarah . She was very encouraging. Her own "thing" was eventing but lessons covered all aspects as required. The hacks were limited to two different one-hour routes. I went once when it was very wet weather & there was no cantering because the trails were slippery. NOTE this business has been bought out by new owners since I was last there. I don't know if/how much it has changed.

Highland Trekking and Trail Riding . Treks in Glen Affric, which is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Many routes and different lengths of ride from a one hour walk, right up to several days with camping. Friendly people who would be flexible if you wanted to tailor-make a holiday. Don't do lessons though, there's just a small school that they use to assess riders before they head out.
