I have a rising 3yr old ID x WB with a little bit of American Paint mixed in, she's got some pretty good breeding, set to make about 16.2 to 17hh, should jump as both parents do, and I want to do dressage with her. I'm based in Sussex and looking for any recommendations on good breaking and training yards. I'm not a novice as backed my other horse myself with great success (still have him 9 yrs on) but want to make sure she's done slowly, carefully and with some sensitivity.
I've heard Elliott Rowe mentioned and it's all been good, but does anyone have any more info or other suggestions? Anything gratefully received by thread post or PM as I'm not originally from this area so don't really know anyone here.
Thanks lots.

Jason Webb is superb. I had a tricky sharp youngster and he did a very very good job with him.

Don't be put off by the 'Australian' bit, although he uses the stock saddle for breaking the style of riding is english.

The man really is world class.

I know a lot of people who use Jason Webb in Kent also, some are professional dressage riders themselves. Don't know him personally but heard good things.

Our 'untouched' TB (he was a bit of a rescue), has just come back from Dan Wilson's in Cornwall. I can safely say that I have never been so impressed by somebody's horsemanship as I have been with Dan.

He is extremely knowledgable (Monty Roberts used him as his demo rider on his tours) and has innate horse sense. He puts down very clear boundaries and works extremely empathetically with the horse, and gets wonderful results.

Thoroughly recommend him.

He has a website http://www.practicalhorsemanship.co.uk/

JanetGeorge on here seems to do amazing things with youngsters but I cannot recall where in the country she is. maybe PM her.

Thank you for the suggestions, but having looked them all up they're all a bit too far away for me. I want to be able to visit most days and whilst I don't mind driving I have 2 other horses and a six year old daughter so couldn't be away too much. Its a shame cos they all sounded really good! Anymore suggestions gratefully received though, thanks.

I think I have just replied to another post of yours...Hillary Sawyer - She is a dressage rider based in Henfield and she is amazing! I'm not sure whether she breaks young horses, but I would definately look into it if I were you. Where abouts in West Sussex are you? I am from East Sussex so may be of some help...What about Pyecombe?

I dont know where you are in west sussex but i have used richard wilkinson in crowborough East Sussex, an old fashioned nagsman who is very good

I'ld def recommend Richard Wilkinson too - thoroughly nice no nonsense bloke who is very good with youngsters. Nothing seems to faze him and he is calm and quiet but gets the job done well. Has a reputation for getting troubled horses that other people have messed up and sorting them out.
