Hey all,

I'm looking for some advice about driving.

My understanding is its best to start off with a 2 wheeled carriage.

Can anyone reccomend a suitable one to start with, will be for a 14.2hh Welsh section D.
Also musn't cost the earth - found one website and they started at 2500.00 !!

I know Robinsons do a good value one but I could only find one suitable for shetlands.

I'm really struggling to find something thats suitable.

Any suggestions to a good starter harness also would be appreciated.

Many thanks xxxxx

I don't know english stockists, but I would have thought a 4 wheeler would be better to start? A bit more stable. I used to hate being my sisters dressage groom in a two wheeler, made me seasick!

try the website dragon driving
might be an idea to get someone experience to look with you.
2 wheel carts are fine but you might have balancing problems this isnt an issue with 4 wheels.

You can have a lot of fun on 2 wheels.

I recommend buying a good quality second hand one. You get a terrible ride in cheap two wheelers as they don't have any suspension. You'll quickly tire of a bone-shaking cheap vehicle.

2 wheels are also cheaper than 4 and a 2 wheeler is easier and a lot safer to handle when you're learning. The resale on a good quality vehicle is also very good and they're easier to sell.

I think that Bennington are the best and they have price tags which reflect this but you can buy a good 2nd hand one for 15hh for under £1000.

There are also plenty of other good makes.

Dragondriving is the best place to check out the market. You could also put a notice on indoordriving.co.uk or IDHT.co.uk, and check the classifieds on BDS and the local club websites.

Happy driving

I have both a 2wheeler and a 4wheeler for my 14.1 and i much prefer the 4wheeler. I bought it second hand from the Scottish Carriage Driving Association website, its a Jack Clyne and cost me 1000 pounds.
I looked a lot on the bhdta website and also dragon driving when i was looking.
