What would be a suitable in-hand class for my 17 year year old chestnut Welsh B x Arab mare. We have never attempted 'proper' in-hand showing before but have done a few novelty classes a couple of years ago.

Was thinking about entering part-bred mountain and moorland & best condition (although to be fair she's still moulting as she lives out) and the show we are going to doesn't have an in-hand veteran class. Does anyone have any otehr suggestions?

Also as it's only local do you think I could get away with wearing johdpurs and short boots? As the only trousers I have are black and I can't run in my long boots.

I don't know about which classes to enter except maybe PB arab/condition like you say. A piccie would help if you have one

I don't see a problem using jodhs and short boots - I did this when I competed my horse at a large in hand show and was not penalised for it. Dark jodhs better for white legs, lighter jodhs (beige) for darker legs....I also wore a hat and a hairnet and brown gloves with a brown showing cane (My tack is brown)

Hi Ya
You could do the PB arab but actually your horse looks more welsh so maybe something in-line with that......
I wouldn't worry too much about your outfit TBH.
Hope you have lots of fun

Is she Plaitable?

If she is you can do Show horse/pony (you didn't say how big) Best Conditioned and I think she would only be able to do PBA classes as plaited as well

But unplaited she would eb able to do Open Showing

i would do PBA and part welsh classes and possible condition/turnout

shes sweet and will look fab plaited

edited to say i did plenty of PBA with my mare and she enjoyed it! your mare looks nice and should do nicely.
she was always plaited and if ridden she went in a pelham with 2 reins or just inhand in her usual bridle.
