Sulphur powder those who use...

Is is basically the same as keratex Powder and applied the same way? I've noticed sulphur listed on the ingredients but am going through packs of Keratex like there's no tomorrow, effective? Yes but at £10 a pack costly too!
 
Not sure who posted or which thread or forum, but the other day someone posted that they mix baby talc and sulphur powder and use it instead of Keratex Powder.
 
It's pig oil and sulphur! My vet just recommended it now Lucy has recovered from nasty, swollen, mud fever legs. I have just bought the pig oil OK, but got the sulphur at the garden centre -as I couldnt find it anywhere else locally -and now I am too scared to use it as mum thinks it may be the wrong sort; any ideas anyone? It says 97 point something percent yellow sulphur, I guess I should be worried about the other two point whatever percent??
 
I read somewhere that 80% Pig Oil to 20% yellow sulphur powder (by volume) is the recommended rate of mixing for leg application.

I also sprinkle yellow sulphur powder (sourced from eBay) onto the insides of my horses turnout boots, before putting them on. Works really well, especially if the boots are still a bit damp from the day before. I also mix the sulphur powder into zinc-and-castor oil (from the chemist) and apply to the heels at night whilst they're in. Works a treat at keeping the heels and pasterns in good condition.

I had that exact same problem. I rang round all the local pharmacies before I found some at the garden centre. I looked it up as best as I could and asked a friend who knows about these sorts of things. In the end I used it and horse is fine, well no worse off for using garden centre stuff anyway!!
