Hi,
My daughter who will be 13 wants to go to a horse camp next summer. We have our own horse but he isn’t suitable for her to take away although she rides him at home. Therefore we can’t use pony club. She is a competent novice, will walk, trot, canter and do small jumps.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in the UK? I have messaged one place but was hoping for recommendations also.
Thank you

Wellington's the obvious choice residential wise but they are not cheap! https://wellingtonriding.co.uk/holidays/junior/ Their 2025 dates will appear by early early next year at very latest.

Where are you OP? As someone may know of a centre offering more local options (I know my decent local kids rs does various non-residential camps througout the year for example).

Is she a member of your local pony club? If so there may be someone able to lend a pony for the week? Or sometimes riding schools hire out ponies for camp?

A week away at a riding centre will be great I'm sure (I did a few myself as a teenager, at Knowle Manor in Taunton and Lyncombe Lodge, neither of which exist today :( ) but I would expect Pony Club Camp to be a very different experience to a residential centre, especially if she is already a PC member and has friends there.

Or maybe she could do both! 😂

Thank you both for suggesting Wellington - I had already looked as it’s been recommended by someone else but as you say, it’s very expensive! We are in West Yorkshire but willing to drive her so somewhere that fits the bill.

She isn’t a member of pony club unfortunately. Though we do have a horse I don’t have transport which makes pony club inaccessible to us. Sadly he is also having some rehab at the moment so is not rideable for at least another 2 months so I don’t know if she will be able to use him next summer or not yet. I can ask around about the pony borrowing though, we know a fair few horsey people so this could possibly work. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks coblets, I have seen this one online in my searches, do you know them or have heard good reviews?
I did their pony camp for several years when I was younger and really enjoyed it. You might not jump as high as you do at other camps but the variety of disciplines you can try your hand at more than makes up for it. Big range of horses though they’re all fun and safe, and you make friends quite quickly with the other campers.

It’s been around a decade since I went so things might have changed but I believe it’s the same management so I doubt it’s changed too much.
