Summer Camps - Where do you do yours??

Having been inspired by JoBo doing her "second" camp of the year *muchus jealous* I have been looking for a camp to go to with my horse. I liked the idea of the Active Rider ones but they seem very expensive for just a weekend.
Does anyone else go on any? What are they like? Where? and how much?
Any ideas very welcome!:)
 
I would love to go to a horse camp, but as you say it is a lot of money for a weekend where I would only want to do some of the activities. Perhaps we should arrange our own one??
 
I'm desperate to do camp on my boy, think I'm to late to book anything this year but hopefully I will get organized for next year.

Next spring I'm planning to organize a mini camp for my friends and I too :D
 
i did an prof arranged adult horse camp a few summers ago at MKEC.
it was good but not terribly flexible, not all the things they said would happen did, and it felt a bit cleeky.

i was supposed to do one a Waresley Park last august which sounded fab but Aran went lame!

a friend and i have arranged one this august which is exciting - it's worked out relatively expensive but we have totally talored to our requirements and it's just the 2 of us. Would have been cheaper with more numbers.
 
I am taking mine to pachesham camp this year. Its three days and two nights for £270 which inlcudes all horse bedding/hay/human meals and tuition with Tony Whipps.. looking forward to it.
 
You could try the EMDG camp on the Osberton Estate near Retford, Notts.

They have a really varied programme of lessons etc and lots to do in the evenings! :)

Quiz Night - hosted by our very own Anne Robinson, Val Fisher!

Second Hand Tack Sale - As usual Sue Stansfield got in first and secured all the bargains.

Bucking Bronco - Mark Cavell proved he was something of a cowboy by staying on the longest (it was on slow speed though!)

Sharon's Games Night - Chloe Cavell took everyone's cash (winning 3 games of bingo) - Mark you really must start paying this girl!

The Elizabeth Gale fashion range was unveiled this year with all the women trying on her last season's wardrobe without the use of changing rooms. The event was popular with the blokes.

Camps last supper at the Mill (Saturday) - Huge success and the food was excellent. Linda Cardwell of Munchies laid on an excellent spread. Due to the weather this was held indoors. Linda looks after us all week preparing cooked breakfasts and evening meals for over 100 campers.

New Showers
The new shower block proved very popular this year. Indeed Sue and Elizabeth Gale spent more time in there than anyone else.

I have finally booked it!!
Husband has just bought himself new "off-roading" tyres:rolleyes: for the Land Rover, so I thought "Hell, why not" and treated myself to an Active Rider HORSECAMP!! Am sooooo excited!!!:D
Only 10 weeks to go!! Yes am that sad!!:o
Anyone want to come with me?! I'll be all alone and won't know anyone!! But still excited!!

Oh and just found out I've got free tickets to see Michael McIntyre (Comedian) next month!! Woohoo! Could today get any better???!!:)
 
I do 3 a year organised by NI riding clubs liaison committee (well, one person on it anyway gawd bless her :)) with Tim Downes FBHS. I've been going for years and get a huge amount out of them every time. They are quite small, not terribly expensive, at an equine college with fabby facilities, and a great bunch of people go.

BHS Ireland also run several camps a year in the north and south. These are a bit more expensive, tend to have bigger numbers and lots of different instructors.

We are spoilt for choice here :D

where are you going? and when? and how much (if you don't mind me asking) is it? I'd love to go to one if I can afford it!

How exciting! What camp is it you're off to, and where?
 
Does your local Riding Club do one?
Mine does - im booked in for a weekend at a nearby location - it offers jumping or non jumping classes (as I have only just got my baby girl jumping - were going to focus on the flatwork)

It means I know some people already going - and the costs are subsidised nicely! :)

Cant wait! :D
 
I organise one for my riding club at Stockland Lovell near Bridgwater. It's not a cheap four days, but numbers are limited to 16, you get two hour and a half lessons a day in groups of no more than 4, and fully catered. Everyone who goes loves it!

Can totally recommend :-)

Perhaps consider joining your local RC and seeing if they do anything? Most of the clubs our way organise something.....
