I am thinking I might want to take my boy to Camp this summer. I'm a teacher so have most of the summer off and think it would be really good for us. I have never been before so don't really know what to expect or how to even find out about these things.
We are mostly into dressage but do the odd bit of jumping (all be it currently in a dressage saddle) and are based in Bedfordshire.
Can anyone offer me any advice on how to find out about camps, what to expect and/or good camps to try

Best tip is to book in advance, camps around us get booked up very quickly. Although spaces can become available closer to the time if you get on the waiting list.

What to expect ? Surrounded with a load of barking mad women who love to ride, laugh and enjoy a few vinos. The camps I go on tend to be across the weekend , and you get 2 x 1hr group lessons on Saturday and Sunday , and an additional lesson on the Friday if you want

Have a look at the active rider website, it will give you a feel for what goes on.

I'm going next weekend, and can't wait

Thanks. I'm looking at the Nikki Crisp camp in August. Has anyone been to one of hers ?just need to make sure I have transport. I usually share transport with a buddy but I really want to go to this myself. That way I can just concentrate on me and my boy and not have to worry about anything else

I've been to my local riding club camp twice, most recently at the start of the month. Had an absolute ball, fab instructors and like minded people encouraging one another to do better with a side helping of good food, laughter and just a wee bit of gin for good measure :)

We had a lesson on Friday, 2 on the Saturday and either 2 on Sunday or a single XC lesson. The groups were fairly evenly matched in terms of ability and what folk wanted to do and the lessons tailored accordingly.
