What boots do people wear on the yard in summer?
I have a lovely pair of Morreta fur lined boots for winter but they're roasty hot now it's warming up. I have cheap wellies but I hate them as they offer no protection. I also have a fabulous pair of walking boots but I don't want to destroy them by wearing them everyday as they were expensive. I suppose I could use my site boots from work as I rarely go on site anymore. What works for you?
 
Barista Crocs (no holes so you can walk through dewy grass without getting wet feet) or deck shoes.

Neither of mine are shod though.
 
For around the yard, I tend to wear trainers, deck shoes, shorts riding boots or my non-neoprene LC wellies if feet and legs need to stay dry.

99% of the time I just wear trainers or deck shoes.
 
I really like the Mountain Horse ‘Stable’ short boots. They’re chunky and more like a Dealer/Blundstone type boot. You can also ride in them and they’re available with a reinforced toe.
 
I use my Telluride zip front boots most of the time unless its horrendously vile. I never chuck away an old pair (they usually last at least 2 to 3 years before cracking a little by the ball of the foot).
Current pair are on their 4th year.
The old ones are still serviceable so get used just on the yard or when its v dry underfoot.

I go from these to the Grasmere's in winter.
 
In the winter, a good pair of neoprene wellies.
Currently, a pair of Karrimor Goshawk Waterproof Walking Shoes.
Seem to be a good compromise between price, weight, grip and sturdiness.
 
I wear laced Ariat Tellurides most of the time. All year tbh as my feet complain otherwise. Mine usually only last a year due to this. I’ll wear an old pair of trainers if I’m not doing anything much directly with the horses.

This. I wear Hunter clogs or equivalent, although find cheaper garden centre varieties don't last as long so it's a bit of a false economy. As above, mine aren't shod either.
 
I bought some Premier Equine Vinci boots and have found them to be hard-wearing and comfortable, have worn in the cold and recent hot weather and not suffered with frozen toes or sweaty feet.
 
Short steel toe work boots. Used to wear trainers a lot but got fed up of being stood on by horses or sheep 🤣 the boots are grippier too
 
having had my 13.2 pony land on my foot when i was a child and pull my big toe nail out i only every wear proper yard boots.
 
I’ve recently swapped my winter boots to Karrimor low cut waterproof walking boots which look like trainers because morning field dew and normal trainers make for wet tootsies. They are sturdy and my feet feel safe from misplaced hooves. Very comfortable with no need to break them in and I’ve done all yard work and walked the dogs miles in them. On sale £35 from Sports Direct via Amazon.
 
I wear Ariat Telluride short lace up boots. They are comfortable and sturdy. I’ve had my toes crushed too many times in trainers. In the past I’ve had Ariat side zip Barnyard short boots too. I liked those because I could wear chaps with them for riding whereas I can’t get chaps over the top of the Tellurides.
 
Timberland boots are comfy, waterproof, protective enough for most situations, and last forever. I hack in mine as well, as they have a small heel and not too deep a tread. You can get them cheaply on Ebay from people who have worn them once and didn't get on with them. .. just avoid the beige or white nubuck ones for obvious reasons 😏
 
I’m currently in the Shires equivalent of Tellurides. They are ok, I find them a bit sloppy round the ankle.
Previously I had Dublin Tilleys which didn’t last very well. Started to split after just a year. I’m on 5 day livery so they don’t work hard!
I like zip up boots, the thought of soggy shoe laces is a bit yuk.
 
Helping on a yard in Summer, I wore my Ariat Western boots, which I bought as a souvenir in the USA mid West and immediately ruined by weather proofing them. They are smooth soled for riding so were not wonderfully safe when leading a strong cob but they have hard toe caps which protect your toes well when grooming.

I just got a pair of these and I am enjoying them very much, the Classic ones.

I used to live in my Cabotswoods long yard boots and got on very well with them summer and winter for yard work, walking and hacking, except I can't drive in them so have decided on short ones for a wee change.
 
My rather fancy Scarpa hiking boots have been my yard boot for the past year or so. The grips weren't up to the Surrey Hills and I needed to size up anyway for proper hiking. They're leather and very sturdy. They also saved my foot on Sunday, as I was unhitching my trailer and the jockey wheel rolled into my foot due to uneven ground. Pretty sure I'd have a mashed foot in trainers or similar!

I used to have the Telluride H2O and loved those. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again in a sale. They had to fall off my feet before I ditched them.

I’m wearing Ariat Barnyard boots at the moment, which is just as well as one ankle is still fat from where it was broken and it’s one of the few pairs of shoes I can get my feet in!
