Well on the plus side she travelled well
Went to tack her up, had put a different bridle in the car and, ummmm, the noseband was too small
So I had no noseband - oh dear.
Went into the warm up with my HHO counterparts and she firstly tried to spin and nap going in
Became a gobby little madam, wouldn't soften in the warm up at all and would not listen and was just bleurgh. Do not think that the ponies tied up on the side of the warmup helped, but it is all good things for her to see. She felt very opinionated and not going well at all, but I thought we would work through that.
So popped a cross pole a few times - fine. There was a big spread up so popped that, badly, twice, third time was spot on so left it there.
Watched CotswoldSJ jump a text book round, then Dieseldog jumped an absolute blinder and took every shortcut she could. Then it was me. Went in she almost tanked off with me as I circled for the first, went to duck out, I got her over but she knocked the front pole, almost stopped at 2, kicked her hard and we went over. Round to 3, bit dodge as she was looking to the right. 6 strides from there was a double - here ended our day. There are big advertising hoardings on the fence and she just did not want to go near
Add this to the fact she went around with her mouth so open you could count her teeth, we were not going well!
So that's that. Didn't wait for the 3ft as what with having a useless bridle I didn't think it would be at all constructive!
Onwards we go - we were supposed to have a comp at the stables next weekend but it has been cancelled
But WORC has a SJ comp at Calais Oak on the 21st so will prob go to that - but for now, we are going to be doing some serious training!
MANY thanks to haybales for coming with me, and a big hello and well done to CotswoldSJ and Dieseldog - lovely to see you guys
And as a bonus we ran into Twigggy too
