Oh wow, walked out of the boys shelter just now and saw two Swallows! Summer must finally be getting here

I saw a giant seagull nearly crumpled into a ball by the wind last night. Hope the swallows give it a few more days before they come this way!

My swifts arrived today! It was lovely to see and hear them again. The nest every year in our barn. Summer's on it's way.

That was me on Thursday. 3 horses to bring in and I'm stood in the lane getting whacked in the eyeballs by 80mph ice marbles trying to decide if I should bring mine in first for love or the nutcase in for safety reasons. Nutcase won. Then had to poo pick.

OH insisted on putting the heating on when we got back from the yard as he was frozen I was toasty warm after mucking out, vigorous groom of filthy pony followed by energetic long rein session, don't know what he's moaning about

That wind was icy today! But we have hawthorn starting to flower so Sumner is definitely on its way.

It's still winter here...it's now been 5 months of awful weather with the occasional 'good' day (as in dry and some sun, but I can count the number of these days on one hand).
Today it's the usual gale force winds and torrential rain/hail 9and sometimes snow). It's the first year that the horses still have their rugs on in mid-April.
Hardly a blade of grass and the field is basically a lake. We managed to get some very expensive hay, which is all that's keeping the lads going (even though they don't like it as much as the cheaper stuff, which is really infuriating!)
I think I've forgotten how to tack up, it's been so long.
Went out to feed a few hours ago and my waterproofs got a real hammering. I had thermal layers on underneath my coat, plus a fleece and Sealskinz super warm gloves.
Just off to huddle in front of the fire!
