My friend swears by these for riding in in the summer. Are there any cheaper ones that are as good. Price puts me off!

For a couple of medical reasons I should not expose my skin to the sun and I wear the Ariat sun stopper tops daily in warmer weather. I tend to buy them on sale, my most recent ones were from Hope Valley but other places often have last years prints reduced.
Thank you. Do they ‘breathe?’

Next question then sizing. I have a large Ariat t shirt and it’s quite snug. I’m an M and S 14 do I need xl?

It’s more of a sweater, but I got an Ariat ‘Breathe’ 1/4 zip top and it’s super breathable — so I imagine the thinner base layers are even more so… It’s a sports/birds eye type fabric with lots of mesh panels. It was also on sale from Hope Valley.

I’m a 10-12 and a Medium has room.

Ariat sunstopper tops work really well for me. They wash easily and dry so fast. Some of mine are I think 5 years old and still going strong. They're worth the investment, they keep the bugs off too!

They work really well for me, I use them on my endurance rides as I always forget to put sun lotion on! I always size up as I prefer them slightly loose fitting.

Ariat Sunstoppers are good. I have one in Italian Plum, which is a nice colour. Their 'Lowell' is a bit thicker but also good. Budget choice would be Horze Blair baselayer.

I bought a couple of the Ariat ones too after reading this thread. Slightly weird colours/patterns as sale stock was limited but I like the fit and am looking forward to not having to slather myself in sun cream.

I love that colour, pp!

Bought my first Ariat sunstopper top off the back of this thread, and christened it yesterday on a 2 hour trek. Super impressed, it was very comfortable and unsweaty to wear under a body protector.

I am a tall chunky size 12/14, and the L fits nicely and fairly loosely. Not at all clingy, which I would hate. It’s a bit hidden in this pro pic, but you get the idea.

I live in ariat tops and aubrion leggings because they are fantastic!

I have loads of Ariat tops and have never paid top dollar for them. I buy summer ones in winter and vice versa. They wash brilliantly and must have 20+ now. Sizing is slightly small I’d say. Hope Valley are great in their sales for ariat and aubrion!

My buying theory. Buy things for summer in winter & vice versa.
