My horse is getting a really sunburnt nose at the moment despite my attempts to plaster him in factor 50 at every opportunity! He just rubs it off on his leg/fence or it just washes off when he has a drink.

So i am looking for either a mask that will cover it or one of those nose guards but i can't seem to find one suitable in local tack shops, so can anyone recommend somewhere online i could find one? I would prefer just a nose guard as he already has a variety of fly masks! Any tips? :)

You need the field relief max made by equilibrium, ride away have them , it's a full fly, uv mask goes over ears, face and nose, comes in black with red trim, that is handy to see if the horse gets it off in the field, it has wide Velcro under the chin. My piebald uses it, he soon got used to it being on and it stops sunburn

I have the shires fly mask with the nose extension! Works a treat until he flips the nose bit up haha!

I've got the Premier Equine Buster Mask Extra which is £16.99 for my horse who has a very pink nose and she hasn't got sunburnt at all this summer. It completely covers her nose and also protects her lips at the side where she is also prone to get burnt. Its brilliant and she lives in it during the summer.

She won't let me use sunblock and will not come anywhere near me if she even spies I've got some in my hand so I had to find something else. Mask works perfectly!!

I tried every sunblock until I noticed that using Sudocrem to sooth their noses after too much sun, was actually working better than sun cream. It stays on all day ( or for mine, if I put it on the evening before) and doesn't rub off.

+1

None of ours take off sudocreme and it sooths anyhing already there. It is bloody brilliant for a number of things!

Another vote for Premier Equine Buster Plus. Far easier to apply than sunscreen. Mine hates sunscreen applied so I have to chase her round her stable to get it on her, then she wipes it all over me in a fit of pique.

Ditch the suncream and smother on Sudocrem! It's brilliant and it's water repellant, stays on all day and is soothing too!
My cob gets photosensitive and burns easily on his nose but Sudocrem works a treat, he hasn't burnt at all so fat this year!!! :D

Another great product if you can get is is Ozvet Sun-off
It's indellible, so don't get it on your clothes as won't come off! Also won't come off fences, stable doors, rugs etc but is the thickest and best sun cream available. Stays on for 2 days! But hard to get hold off so I would try Sudocrem first!

I also just slap sudocrem on, sun cream never seems to actually stop her burning properly, I find that sudocrem is thicker and stays on longer :)
