Suncream for horses?

Can anyone suggest a suncream to use on horses - specifically their noses? The recent hot spell seems to have made my boy's pink nose a bit scabby and I'm thinking it might be sunburn. Only ever had a black skinned grey before so never had to apply cream - any suggestions much appreciated!

I have two cremellos who are pink! the absolute best thing to use is Sudocrem. It's thick, stays put, waterproof, cheap and best of all acts lke a total block.

fab stuff !
 
I use any child's factor 50 & also a sun net thingy (dunno what to call it!!) that attaches to headcollar as be burns really easy & tends to rub cream off if grazing for a few hours! x
 
I've always used human sunscreen, although I don't bother anymore, on the basis that he reacts quite strongly, and I'd rather his nose got scabby than mine got broken. Am I bad parent? :o

No, not bad parent (I understand and feel your pain!!!) but I do believe they can get skin cancer like us.
 
I have only really used human sun tan lotion - I have Boots factor 40 (8 hour protection I think) and he has not had any issues with sun burn (he also has a pink nose). It has also not caused any issues with him at all in terms of sensitivity or allergic reaction.

Apparently Riemann (human lotion also) is meant to be a good brand but not sure how high the factor rating they go up to though...
 
Cappy has a very pink muzzle and a long stripe white stripe with thin hair. So
I use Children's Sensitive Amber Solaire factor 50 or Superdrug's own version. For some reason he is absolutely fine to have his snozz suncreamed, even though he can be a b*gger and stick his head nearly 7ft in the air if he doesn't anyone to touch his face. Think I may try the Sudocrem, it sounds like he won't be able to got and rub it off on the grass!

I use factor 50 kiddies suncream but he hates it! I also have a fly mask with a nose bit which is very useful when Im not in the mood for a fight :p
 
I use Banana Boat factor 50 sunblock (kids) for mine as it's nice and thick. I do though use sudocrem if he does get sore at all as it is for use on burns and does heal any soreness pretty quickly.
 
I use Nivea for Kids Factor 50+ (smells lovely and is thick) and also have an equilibrium field relief mask.
 
Another vote for Sudocrem, it works really well and sticks so they can't rub it off. Using sudocrem as suncream is the best tip I have had from this forum.
 
I always used the Soltan extreme sports sunblock for humans - it comes in a stick and i found it so much easier to get on the horse, it stays on and keeps the skin lovely and soft.
 
i have a Welshie with an almost completely white and pink nose, hes quite headshy and hates creams being put on so he has a full fly mask on with a nose most of the time, but the days he gets creamed, either a factor 50 childs suncream (waterproof) or again Sudocreme, but we dont always opt for that as he is a pony who loves to rub :p so suncream is better (easier to wash off you!!!)
 
I use a Pixxie and factor 50!! My lad hates it being put on and he has a very white and pink face and lips. He also likes to wipe it off all over you, the wall, anything in his way, rub his nose in mud or wipe it all over my other horse!!
 
Lochpearl, im flattered im a vital part of your suncreaming equipments and very proud i can get the cow's nose to go white :p x
