Suncream for horses?

Naf- Sunshield, its brill and stays on really weel. My horse can be a real idiot and I normally slap this on every few days and he wears a little nose net!

nivea waterproof stuff for kids, sometimes i even use it on the kids!!
are there any buttercups in your paddocks? our little grey suffers from the caustic effect of them as well as sunburn

B hates being touched and I have fought for years to get cream of any type onto her nose. Sharer bought a clear spray factor 50, waterproof and no need to rub in. It's fab, she lets me put it on no fuss and I can spray the pink tips of her ears too! (Fly mask for her eyes) bit more pricey but she's worth it!

Sudacrem all the way. She takes fly masks off so they don't help, she just finds the nearest tree and leaves it on the tree.
I also don't like to see them with the masks on - put it on the other day and she charged across the field - so not 100% sure what their vision is like with them on.

Sudacrem is my answer to anything - cuts, scrapes, sunburn and the scabby bits behind her knees all get it on. Seems to loosen the scrabs and soften the skin nicely.

My horse hates suncream, but has a pink nose so I bought him a Cashel Crusader fly mask - long with ears - covers his nose and stops it getting burnt at all. I bought the size up (warmblood rather than horse) so it would just touch the ground when he was grazing. It's quick & easy to put on, and some horses won't drink with suncream on so I'd rather the fly mask which I can throw in the washing machine to keep it clean. (I'm also allergic to nivea suncream - I come up in a rash. I have bought horse suncream for when I'm at shows and he can't have his mask on.

Horses can get skin cancer and given how uncomfortable it is if we humans get burnt (by forgetting our sunscreen) I don't understand how anyone can leave their horse to get burnt & sore & scabby?? Particularly when people then expect to have their horse wear the bridle over their poor sore nose! If you think this is acceptable then try carrying a rucksac for an hour on burnt shoulders, or something similar to see how comfortable you find it.

i use a kids suncream stick- its factor 50, waterproof & blue! so my poor girly looks ridiculous but i can tell when she needs a new layer of cream & she doesn't mind a roll on stick as much as cold cream being slobbered over her face!
