Just being nosey really. Do you have special riding pants? I like big supportive ones. A Friend only rides in G strings - can't think of anything worse.

I don't have special riding pants, but I certainly do have ones I don't ride in!! I tend to stick to comfy pants too. I too have a friend who always rides in thongs ... Doesn't like a vpl under her jods...... Not tried it for years so maybe I should!!

Got a lesson this morning ... I'll report back later .... !!

I'm with Greylegs - I don't have specific ones for riding, but there are ones I definitely won't ride in! Anything lacy is asking for trouble ...

M&S no-VPL shorts-style pants. Very comfy and do what they say on the tin. Avoid the very silky ones though, they "ride down" under jods.

Errmm....I found that my maternity knickers are the most comfortable and no vpl. I wear them all the time for everything including riding. Even if they do come up to my belly button...

I'm a devoted thong wearer; the way I see it, normal pants always end up bunched 'up there' anyway, so thongs mean less material to get bunched up (and of course no VPL; jodhpurs are unflattering enough!) I do stick to plain, seam free, cotton gusseted ones though; no point inviting problems.

I'm another that rides in a thong, don't find it uncomfortable at all, you do get cold butt cheeks at times though!

So, reporting back post lesson and I have to say I take back any negative comments I've ever made about riding in a thong. It was actually very comfortable so might copy Mrs G and invest in some new ones for under jods wear. I'm a convert!

I like m&s high legs or a thong. Not lace or silk though as I find with jods it makes my stomach and side of hips sore. Worst thing was wearing comfy pants , riding along past the mirrors and I had what could only be described as pockets of fat that they had created on my hips as they sat low and rolled down when I rode, it looked as if someone had stuffed a sock each side of my hip bones. Keeping to my full high legs unti summer to keep my rear warm.

Another devotee of M&S seamless no VPL undercrackers. I'm at the age where comfort is paramount. Can't be dealing with itching or chafing, whether riding or at any time thank you very much!

After an unfortunate incident of poor underwear choice- lacy round the legs and waist band, a rainy ride where horse required a lot of seat control. I am now to scared to try anything other than cotton full briefs! TMI WARNING: It was like friction burn on the sensitive bits, with resultant swelling- a post ride shower was agony! Good job I wasn't getting any action at the time!

When I had a fairly serious accident and had to pretty much be cut out of everything, the paramedic asked me if I was wearing any pants as apparently they've come across many riders who weren't. Now even in my drugged up pain filled state I still couldn't imagine anything worse than riding commando!

I bought some Equetech knickers with slightly padded gusset for hunting - so comfy! I think I'm going to invest in a couple more pairs, but other than that just comfy pants with no seams in uncomfortable places. Can't think of anything worse than a thong, though I hate them at the best of times let alone in the saddle...

Thongs all the way don't like VPL! Mind you as I wear cream Jods I'm very conscious the bum ain't as smooth as it should be shall we say :D

As long as there isn't anything lacy or seamy going on in the seatbone area, I don't really mind. I have comfortably ridden in g-strings, thongs, shorts, high legs, bikini type pants and, under white breeches, those hideous flesh coloured spanx affairs that are like cycling shorts. Now those really are comfy! Never tried the padded granny knickers though.

Winter morning cold bum cheeks are the only downside!!!

I have pants that I won't ride in, mainly the lacy ones. My fave to ride in come just below the bum cheek and don't shift an inch until you voluntarily move them. :D

Loving all the replies - never knew there were so many thong lovers! I did once get a blister on my bottom due to bad saddle/horse /pant conbo. I had to ride in pants with a thong over to separate the two sides of the blister if you know what I mean!

I only possess G strings can't stand any other kind of underwear as they end up bunched up and all that material there is not comfortable, I have never had any problems riding in them don't even know they are there.
