There have been a couple of posts about sunflower seeds being good for hooves. My TBx is unshod and her feet only need trimming once/twice a year. When we start road work next year she'll need to be shod and the farrier says she should be on a supplement to help growth. I've tried a couple but tbh they didn't make enough difference to justify the price.
How mch sunflower seeds should I feed - 1 cup? Also, do they need to be soaked first? She currently has about 2 tbsp cod liver oil a day as well so would I need to stop that?
Sorry it's so long but the info on the net isn't brilliant on this subject.

I feed 200g (1 mug) per day to my unshod TBx and 60ml soya oil with it in the hope that her feet become stronger. The seeds cost me £8.25 for a 20kg sack. That provides about 60g protein and 6 MJ/DE.

Black ones are the type you feed as they have the most nutritional value. The other type are more just ornamental with very little nutritional value. I feed 4 cups per day. They don't need to be soaked.
