Just an epic weekend and topped off with hound exercise on Beau, who was extremely buzzy! We spent lots of time plunging and cantering sideways but I just love him. Feels totally safe.
We had two good lessons at dressage club, more things to work on! Unfortunately Henry got very upset while we were there, there is an oval next door and they were playing footy. I've never seen them play football there before. Henry hates people running in the distance so he was very upset by it all, plus there was some loud music and banging. He tried to jump out of his yard and kicked out too. I have never in the 6 years I've owned him seen him so upset!
I got him out and took him away form the hubub and we did lots of groundwork until he relaxed. Then we did groundwork right next to where they were playing until he relaxed and dropped his head. I was so proud of him, and then I got on and had 2 fab lessons even while the game was still going. I didn't think I'd get that far because he was so ready to explode. He was in fact so well behaving one of the coaches asked me if he was ever naughty.
Unfortunately he's hurt his near hind kicking out. I don't think it's anything too sinister, a little swollen and he's reactive to palpitation but sound. I hope he's just bruised it but I am taking a cautious approach. Think I will end up scratching our comp next weekend which is a bit sad but I'd rather be careful and keep him sound!
