I was using these the other day and thinking how much easier they have made my life! If anyone hasn't got them yet, honestly, they are completely brilliant, i put them in the night before the event and then just swap the studs over at the event, really quick and easy... and the Studstasha magnetic wristband thingy for holding the studs as you swap them is brilliant too.
just ordered both as a pressie for a stuck-in-the-dark-ages mate, actually, which prompted this post.

So, any other brilliant bits of kit i haven't heard about yet? what couldn't you manage without? Ta!

I totally agree - we have used them all of this season so far and cant believe the difference it has made studding so much easier!

We also actually bought some supastuds studs as well rather then the normal ones we have and they were much easier to use as well, certainly wont buy anything but supastuds now

Yep 4th season with supastuds now. And have only lost one and that was 2 weeks ago when it just wouldn't screw in (think I buggered the thread though!!!)

found them, not convinced, know of some nice metal things like these but that you use a key on to unscrew, handy and don't protude at all.
Do love the supastuds!

I'm another fan of the travel studs....usually get a bit flustered doing the damn studs but these have made it an almost pleasant experience

!!!

Another essential piece of kit for me is Natural Equine Slosh wash - great for after xc, removes sweat and makes ponio smell lovely

Last piece of essential kit - baby wipes

I would warna everyone about these no sweat, after using them before etc, used it a few days before xc after gallops. After the xc at Necarne he came up with huge , painful lumps and thats the only different thing we had used, 6 months later after becoming a bacterial infection simlar to rainscald, it has been sorted, but will be much carefuller about these lotions and potions! Water!

Supastuds are pretty fab - 'sleepers' in over night then just put in whatever I need at the competition and straight in.

I also love WD40 for cleaning out stud holes and the studs themselves, an adjustable head spanner, farriers nail for calening out stud holes and use to pug holes with cotton wool saoked in baby oil.

Barrier Animal Health lavender wash - great for after the xc - cheap too! Lovely smell and soothes and cools.

'Like Ice' for legs if ground firm - I collect my numbers to use to wrap around as equivilant of brown paper - wprks just as well!

Large sheepskin mitt for a final polish - love mine

Ditto lavender wash and travel studs, and we always carry a spare set of shoes, we lost one at Broadway and the farrier was able to put one straight back on (still cost £15 though

As they are not showing the spanner, how easy is it to get out the travel studs?

I have one set of supastuds which I've used a couple of times, I must get the magnetic wristband as well, as it sometimes looks like i'm playing Twister with my horse

i just use a normal spanner, haven't got one of their fancy ones. they're easy to get out, they're about 2mm deep and very hard metal so easy to get hold of with the spanner.
the wristband is a brilliant invention, no question.

Love travel studs make life so much easier, also use WD40 in holes.

2nd baby wipes great for grey horse quick clean ups!

Very impressed with recent purchase of cowboy magic yellow out shampoo Buds white bits came up very sparkley.

Thermatex leg wraps to put on overnight and keep Bud's white bits sparkley!

Full cotton combo (from Austrailia) only eye and ear holes!! again to try and keep white bits sparkley!!

At comps Lucozade Hydro sports water drink lime and lemon only thing i can drink easily and kept down!! Also keeps me going as don't eat til all done!

Do you still tap your stud holes? I do, even with using the supastuds!

Supastuds are not self tapping, they are self cleaning! So if your thread is a bit worn you may need to tap them. When the holes are new I find putting in a larger supastud before the one which is the right size helps, or before I put in a travel stud as I always put in the travel studs the night before.

I use the little screw in sleeper things, theyre fab (and cheaper)

Also, just superglue a fridge magnet to a wrist band, it has the same affect as the magnetic supa studs thing- very handy!!

Are they the ones you use an allen key to get them out? If so they can get a little stone in and then you cant get the allen key in

You just use a trusty shoe nail to remove said stone. I've never had a problem with them, we swear by them. But I think I'm probably just stingy!!

Or on my yard the walkways to fields/school have something in which gets into the holes and sets like concrete - no idea what the hell it is as it looks like normal hardcore, but I have lost a stud hole totally to it, and spent a looooong time trying to get those little sleepers unplugged. It was a blinking nightmare so now I have the travel studs, which are superb! I usually plud the holes with cotton wool, but if I have events only a week or so apart I'll leave in the travel studs, have hacked and everything in them, they are brilliant.

yep, i've had this happen, never used them since, totally infuriating. i have about 3 sets of the bl***y things if anyone want to buy them, will never trust them again. a stone the exact size of the allen key hole got stuck in one, no way could i get it out, tried for hours.

Very little - never done more than an hour with them in and TBH in the summer 9 times out of 10 I hack round our fields not on the roads. Only thing I've ever found is they can work loose - I've lost a couple in the field that way!

I've never had a problem with the slosh wash, I'd obviously advise anyone wanting to try it to do a patch test 1st. I only put a capful in a bucket of water and usually wash again with plain water after that bucket is empty!!

My saviour in regards to studs - is an adjustable head spanner - can make it smaller or bigger to get a really good grip on any size stud, travel ones included - seriously if you haven't got one, get one!!

Prior to event I clean out day before plus tap holes, travel studs in overnight and then after event plug with cotton wool soaked in baby oil or WD40 - whatever I have available, then pack in. hole This seems to do the trick until I next use stud holes. I use a farriers nail to pick out any small stones etc
