Off I went for a lesson with Jane Bartle-Wilson at TayloredEquestrian's fab rehab/livery yard this morning, got there fine and...discovered I had forgotten my bridle
(yes, I am the same person who forgot her girth at the show a couple of weeks ago, yes I haven't learnt my lesson).
Cue TayloredEquestrian to the rescue who lent me a bridle!
Had a fab lesson! Jane B-W got right to the route of our problems immediately, Rusky becomes inattentive, I overcorrect with my hand, so when he tries to lighten I am too strong, after which we are both pulling against each other. Sorting out my hands sorted out the problem! For the collected canter she said that I should do a lot less, as I override him, put him on the forehand and then he cannot do the 10m circles. Instead I should expect him to come up and shorten on his own and only kick on if he breaks the canter.
Special bonus: Rusky loved the 'new' bit, so I am off to buy one, but meanwhile TayloredEquestrian lent me hers for the show tomorrow!!!!! She's a star
