I have just checked my 3 yr old and she has got lice
still. I noticed a few weeks ago and immeadiatly washed her with insceticidal shampoo and lice powder. I have done her bed, and washed all her tack and rugs. The other 2 horses she lives with have been washed and done with lice powder but have never shown any trace of them.
She has since been done 3 times with insecticidal shampoo and 2 louse powder, including a really good scrub yesterday and today I found move living lice!! She is still really wooly and has an awful coat, which I think is connected to the lice, but the fact she is so hairy she harbours them. We have come to conclusion that this are super lice and are resistant to chemicals in shampoo and powder. The vet is coming next week to give her a booster so will check her out then.
Is there anything else I can do?? Should I clip her to get rid of the hair? I feel horrible but my other horses are fine and have never had lice, so I am wondering whether she came with them in October and the eggs have just hatched. She is in good condition and is not anemic. I don't know what to do, help!
