I have just checked my 3 yr old and she has got lice :( still. I noticed a few weeks ago and immeadiatly washed her with insceticidal shampoo and lice powder. I have done her bed, and washed all her tack and rugs. The other 2 horses she lives with have been washed and done with lice powder but have never shown any trace of them.
She has since been done 3 times with insecticidal shampoo and 2 louse powder, including a really good scrub yesterday and today I found move living lice!! She is still really wooly and has an awful coat, which I think is connected to the lice, but the fact she is so hairy she harbours them. We have come to conclusion that this are super lice and are resistant to chemicals in shampoo and powder. The vet is coming next week to give her a booster so will check her out then.
Is there anything else I can do?? Should I clip her to get rid of the hair? I feel horrible but my other horses are fine and have never had lice, so I am wondering whether she came with them in October and the eggs have just hatched. She is in good condition and is not anemic. I don't know what to do, help!

i tried insecticidal shampoo and all kinds of lice poweders but none of them worked on mine either.

Use Coopers fly repellant - sounds a bit soft (being a fly repellant and all) but it is quite a harsh pesticide called permethrin which will knock them dead in one go. You have to wear gloves as its really nasty stuff. once you wipe it on their coat, within seconds you will see lice come to the surface, squirming around then falling off their coat (no joke!)

its expensive but i guarantee it will work!

Deosan or Deosect....can't remember the name, your vet will know.

Our foals were riddled with lice when we got them from the breeder.

You dilute this stuff (got it from the vets) and after wetting their coat you sponge it on and leave it. We got rid of the lice in one go after this so the stuff does work. Again is strong so you have to wear gloves.
