'Kirsty Jumping With Style' was the note written on my Mum's calender to remind her about today, so no pressure from the start to live up to that statement! :D

I wasn't sure we would get to go competing at all this weekend! After the snow we've had this week, it was only yesterday that Vale View confirmed they were definitely running. Then Mally spent the day climbing the earth pile left after our new barn was built with her cousin Archie (who broke my 6 year fall-free streak last week ) in a desperate attempt to pull a shoe off, something only Archie succeeded in :D
So this morning, in the summery minus 8 conditions  we trekked off to Vale View for the BE90 and BE100 JAS. We were down a driver as Mummy Hendry got a new knee on Friday, so Papa Hendry took over chauffeuring duties and I recruited my best little jockey from the riding school to act as a pony holder :D She came with me when I was 6th at Oasby, so I had high hopes for her being my lucky charm :D

It was my first outing for my new XC colours, bought to keep the Parents happy, as they often struggle to spot Moot in a sea of bay horses after having Henry who stood out more than a bit!

Arrived with not an awful lot of time to spare, to find that it didn't hugely matter as times had gone out the window with a lot of people withdrawing or simply not getting there! Jumped up and got trotting straight away, was using the BE90 as my warm up really, so didn't spend to long jumping the practise fence.
Unfortunately I have a real issue with remembering courses at the moment, not something I have ever struggled with, but getting Eliminated at Stafford seems to have made an issue! So I rode around the course without being 100% confident I was making the right turns, resulting in what felt like a sticky round. We had two fences down, finishing with a style mark of 14, 8 faults and 4 TPs, leaving us out of the placings, but I was happy with how she felt.

I hopped off, rugged her up and left her munching some hay whilst I attempted to get warm in the cafe with some hot chocolate! :D I bought a lovely long Anky coat for teaching in the other day, and it is SO warm! Honestly cannot recommend it enough to anyone who has to stand around in the cold for hours! Mine will be making appearances at the OHs rugby matches!

Onto the BE100 and Moot seemed to up her game, she felt much more eager to get to the jumps and as I was confident of where to go, our rhythm felt much better. She jumped much better, although she is very economical with her jump, so if I don't get her just right, she taps fences left right and centre! I also saw a ridiculous flyer to one fence, god knows how it stayed up, then made up for it by having zero stride at all the the first XC fence! We had one fence down this time, it was the road closed double which was a very short one stride, so I tried to get her back on her hocks, but she fought and had it down. Mally is very short striding anyway, so I think if I had left her alone she would have done it lovely  Note to self: let the horse do her ruddy job! :D
We finished on a score of 12 Style, 4 Faults and 2 TPs, so 18 overall. The comments on both sheets noted my shoulders being in front of the movement, something I'm aware of, however they said it was most obvious on landing, which isn't something I've ever been told about before. In fact in my lessons, I'm often told to stop sitting up so early and keep my shoulders forwards for longer to counteract my lower leg shooting forwards. So who knows! :D

Here is a video of the BE100...

So obviously I was super chuffed with Mally, but also super freezing! So I left before the placings went up, however my friend was there and text me to say I had come 5th!! So she picked up my rosette and prize money (Mally's first ever!!) for me, and it looks like we are off to Addington for the final, mainly because Gamebird told me I have to be her drinking buddy!! ;)

Not bad for a pony broken in by a numpty precisely one year and four days ago ;) God I love her! :D

Super well done to super mally, -8 is a bit of a test though! Hate those short combinations they always put in the jas.

I'll be off to the finals too, so should perhaps pack a bottle :D (or 2, for warmth)

She jumped brilliantly well done and good luck for Addington :)

Thank you, maybe by then I will finally stop interfering with her when she actually does know best :D

how big are those fences?.... she pops them like they are 2ft nothing! LOVE the new XC colours, will deffo SPOT you now ;)

Well done what a fab results to kick the year off with! :)

I fell off last week, whilst jumping Archie, and it shattered my fragile confidence to the point I couldn't face a 2ft cross pole, then I hopped on Mally and scooted her around the same jumps but 1m10 and loved every second of it! She makes everything feel so easy, she is my security blanket :D

I'm glad you got the spotting pun :D

I am SO looking forward to this season, she is feeling so full of confidence and raring to go :D

Well done - I only left the house long enough to feed and muck out X 2 so I'm impressed with you battling the cold!

I did come home and get into bed :D It was bleedin' freezing, I had to wash Mally's white sock before we left too - she was not happy about it! :o

She's lovely, I like her tail over every jump, she's a real credit to you, good luck for Addington

She has hit my back with her tail before! She likes to express herself via it, you should she her when she's cross :D Thank you :D

Mally would have coped fine with it had I left her alone, she jumped out fine! For a horse getting on for 17hh she really struggles with normal distances!!
I'm taking a selection of flavoured Gin and Whisky to keep me warm ;) :D

Seeing as I've been badgering Baydale to deliver Jupiter for the last 2 years or so and she still hasn't taken me up on it I would now like to transfer my allegiance to Mally and give her a carte blanche to a stable in my yard! Next door to William no less if Missy doesn't buck up her ideas about staying helathy! Very well done, the pair of you are such a unit, good luck at the final!

looking good!

Thanks :D

Looking good:) You have done such a good job with Mally, you should be very proud of her and yourself, good luck for the finals.

Thank you :D I am so proud of Mallly, every time I look at her I could pop with it :D I cannot believe that I have been so lucky to find the horse that (as cheesy as it sounds) is my other half. I was saying to my Dad the other day that f=if I saw her ridden without knowing her, I would refuse to get on her, she in NOT my type of horse - stubborn, spooky, sharp, bucks, throws tantrums, etc - but I feel so safe on her and we seem to rub along perfectly :D In fact our personalities are scarily similar :D

When my bottle runs out, you can have first refusal for the ride, you shouldn't have to wait that long ;) :D She would love a stable next to William, she is such a hussy, all the boys love her and she knows it! :D

Thanks :D

Thats so lovely to read K, enjoy every second of her.

I bet you £50 (and I'm tight) that you'll go round an intermediate with her in 2013, if not before.

Haha! I think I'd retire from horses completely if that happens! TableDancer will tell you about the conversation we had at Burgie, when I was thinking about having another horse, with the aim to maybe go PN eventually... :D Moot appears to have taken my plans and fast tracked them!

Looking good!! She's come on really quickly recently - well done you :)

Which is funny because she has probably done far less 'work' recently! She probably only schools once a week, twice if I have a lesson. I think the difference is we have much more structure to our work, now our lessons give us aims, and I am far more disciplined about what work I am happy with her giving me.

What a cleaver moot! The pair of you both looked stylish, well done on braving the cold. I love how even at her size she still manages to look pony like when being ridden :D.

Hope mummy hendry's bionic knee is back to full function soon and loving the note in the calendar :D

She's just so cool... Might you sneak in some working hunter classes between your eventing successes? Good luck for the final, many photos and the likes are very necessary!

Well done the pair of you (it takes two you know ;)). I think Mally is a terrific example of a horse for whom a spot of hunting was just the job and good on you for letting her have a go. (I should add that hunting was a disaster for Frodo - he spent the following few days standing in his stable shaking and refusing to eat so it's not right for all horses.)

Yayy, huge well done, fantastic job!! And so exciting that you've qualified for the Finals :) :) We are off to Hartpury today and if we can do half as well as you we'll be delighted :p
