Does anyone know what was the problem with the mare that had the plate inserted into her neck - they mentioned spine compression.

She started to show signs typical of Wobblers disease. They xrayed and the cervical vertebrae was compressing the spinal cord. They inserted the plated to releieve the pressure but in doibg so it caused to new fractures of the vertebrae

Ahh thanks Samp. Did they say that on the programme (about wobblers) - or do you have inside knowledge of the case????

I can not remember it showed last week, but it was showing some wobbler signs - staggering, unco-ordinated etc. And they ran the tests that you run for wobblers - tail pulling, crossing over limbs, backing up, then xrayed the neck
