So I'm desperate to take my little PRE horse hunting. I think it would do us both the world of good BUT I have no suitable long boots or gaiters!

I have almost 19'' (I know!!🙀) calves!!

I have every conceivable option of ariat boot/chap/long boots at home and they currently do not do up!!! So plenty of short boots if I could find a gaiter for now......

I'm a size 6 foot but anything in my calf width is a men's size 10 😬😳

Would mens 7 work with socks? if so, I have found these http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/german-officers-jackboots-by-fab-product,17932 which I have just got because it's really hard to find anything in a wide size 11! Basically for everyday riding, no need to do up zips!

The calves are super wide, I might have mine taken in a tweak. But the quality looks good and they are very comfortable....just a bit of an odd source...and UNDER £100...and totally trad for hunting.

I have a pair of very wide (too wide for me) Broginis. My wide ariats just about do up if that helps for comparison purposes. Not sure if brogini do gaiters as I only ride in long boots but might be worth a try.

PS If you get really stuck I have also used a firm in Budapest who will make them to yr exact size (and spec) for £350 to £400....measuring is a bit of a faff but it worked brilliantly for me.

Kanyon gorse Or the Tuffa wide range.
Size 6 Xw in the gorse is supposed to go up to 46cm (18.1"), I've got the size 5.5 which should go up to 45cm (17.7") and can get my 18" calf plus a pair of jeans in them & still have room and no fighting with the zip :)

Just Chaps make half chaps which go up to 50cm which is 19.5 inches. Fuller Fillies gaiters are good too. I've got both. Equitector make boots which go up to 18.75 inches in a size 6 and made to measure if that's not big enough.

I share your pain!! I have disproportionately large calf's and could never even get near ariat etc (they probably wouldn't do up past my ankle).

I ended up getting a pair of regent boots which fitted perfectly and were ideal for hunting. I also have relatively short legs an these weren't too long either. After years of not being able to wear long boots these were perfect.

Can't recommend them enough, plus they are really good quality so will last for years. I have had mine for at least 4 and they still look really smart.

Or an easier option. Take a pair of boots which are too tight and take them to a bootmender and get them to insert a strong piece of elastic down the back. If you do not have access then a saddlery repair could also do it. If you are in Surrey, then The Boothole in Dorking does this.

I have fuller filies , I tried for years to get boots to fit. Nothing would go near my calves. All that bike riding, swimming and riding :D

I nearly cried when I found a shop that sold them and finally had decent boots to wear. I've had them a number of years now. I think the quality has improved since I got mine, although I have no complaints about mine, I only use them for shows and the odd lesson and still going strong. Very pleased.

Tredstep Pro G1's I think I have?

Bloody love them and they come in a range of sizes - both height and calf width- which suites me as I have mega thick calves but long legs!
