Hi,

I'll be working in Epsom soon and was just having a nosy at what tack shops were nearby and this place popped up on Google. I've had a look at their website and it isn't very up-to-date so was wondering if anyone had been there and what its like!

Farm Fencing at the Derby Arms, has a far better range of stock and they can get anything in for you relatively quickly. It has only been open a short while, but is my new favourite tack shop in Epsom. Its also conveniently located on my drive from home to the yard.

Brilliant thanks! I'll take a look! It's only 5 minutes from my new work!

I love exploring new tack shops :)

I've been to Superpet on several occasions but I've never been overly impressed. It's not particularly organised (I'm a stickler for organisation!) and I find it almost impossible to find what I want without having to rummage for it.

I much prefer Hengest Farm in Banstead :)

Oh great, thanks! Will take a look there too.

I live in Walton and will be commuting to Epsom for work 4 days a week now which will be a nice change from going in to London.

I'm looking for somewhere I can pop to before/after work or even during lunchtime to save me having to go to Rokers on the weekends.

I have been there. There are three different places in or near Epsom for buying riding stuff - Plus they are about the nearest to our part of London. Superpet have two branches. It really depends what you are shopping for and which brands of hat, bp etc. I havent been there for several years but I kitted out small grandchildren and OH with Champion hats and the basic riding stuff there at Fir Tree Road. My fav shirt and whip both came from there. But there is a bigger shed store belonging to them out at Kingswood - cant provide many details but popped in there for some stirrup treads once when passing. The other Epsom place is Lester Bowden (upstairs in the men's outfitters) more up market and expert fitters there for Aerowear and Race safe bps. Buying riding stuff is a big problem for us. Bookham saddlery where I could buy my HS1 hats, just closed down their shop.

Its ok but there are 2 shops, one in Drift Bridge Epsom and the other one, the Barn, in Kingswood which stocks mostly things for the horse. The one in Drift Bridge is pretty limited stock wise and mostly sells rider clothing and boots and other odds and ends.
To be honest I find it a bit expensive but I really don’t buy stuff from there as never need to.
There really aren’t many tack shops round here, Hengest sells a fair bit but I mostly use for feed. Lester Bowdens is in Epsom but I haven’t been for years, again found it expensive and just don’t have any reason to go in there. Might have to take a look at Farm Fencing now thou!

Hengest is brilliant for feed but also has a good selection of riding wear, leather bits and bobs and lots of other useful things like hi-viz etc. Fair priced tack shops around the Epsom/Sutton/Croydon areas are in relatively short supply in my opinion. I've never been to Farm Fencing so I can't comment either but I might have a look now!
