Does anyone else have this problem? My horse eats everything, even bute, without hesitation. But I've just put him on supplease gold (bought three pots of the stuff) and he will not touch it! Bloody animal.
iv not had any issues with mine & hes very fussy, wont eat even half a sachet of bute in half a scoop of feed!
Could you add something like peppermint food flavouring to it (assuming he likes mint) or something else with a strong smell/flavour & slowly reduce the amount of this until he accepts it. This is how we get antibiotics/bute down our lot.
I'd try a phased approach + liberal addition of Tesco's El Cheapo apple juice. Start by just adding (a) a teeny bit of Suppleaze and (b) a good old dollop of apple juice. Then gradually INcrease (a) while you DEcrease (b) x
aha, i have the same problem with my horse . nightmare. Try buying some molasses, its like £5 for a big tub. My horse will eat anything with molasses in, and he's a very fussy eater!
Very surprised your horse won't eat it halfstep, as it's not a pungent supplement like some. They offer a free sample before you buy, but I guess it's too late for that.
I would go with BoF's phased approach, that's how I got my horse to accept Coligone. Failing that, I'll buy your unused pots off you if you like as my horse is on it permanently.
Am adding molassas and that is working, he's eating it but with a bit of reluctance. Really strange, as I said - this horse eats anything! And I didn't think it smelled at all. He even eats Holland and Barratt's green lipped mussel, which reek of fish!
I've just put Py on this, he's eating up but then I put garlic in as well so perhaps that helps, but he's really greedy so I think he's eat his bucket feed with anything in it, he just lives to eat....basically the wrong person to ask
