Me again... sorry but this forum is such a great way of finding out information etc.... it needs a Grammy Award or should it be an 'Oscar'!...

...anyway I need to purchase a joint supplement for my TB who 27 yrs and it would be extremely helpful if anyone could recommend either:

Suppleaze Gold Ultimate Equine Joint
or
Riaflex Complete

I have been using Syneqin which is £££££'s.

Thanks again.

I can highly recommend Suppleaze Gold, I have tried many joint supplements in the past, all of which were significantly more expensive, and none worked as well as Suppleaze Gold.

Get the free sample they offer first as one HHOer found their horse wouldn't eat it, but this must be unusual. I tasted it yesterday out of curiosity and it's just a mild salt taste which horses usually like.

I also highly recommed Suppleaze gold, it really has helped my very arthritic old TB. It's also cost effective compared to any of the other joint supps ive tried.

I have also used Riaflex but it cost a fortune, i didnt get great results with it either.

I think joint supps are a weired one as what works for one doesnt for another.

Have you been getting good results with Synequin? If so, I would go for Riaflex Complete which has a slightly better spec than Synequin (includes 10g MSM which Synequin doesn't) for about 80 pence a day LESS on the loading dose. I wouldn't be inclined to use the maintenance dose on a horse of his age - UNLESS you were using maintenance with the Synequin and getting good results.

Suppleaze Gold is almost as good as Riaflex Complete for a few pennies less - but has half the MSM. It does, however, work out cheaper on the 'offer' price.

Great - thanks for your recommendations.

He was on Mobifor VS (higher strength) but you can no longer get this. The manufacturers have changed things - re-labelled/changed ingredients/doseage etc. I then tried Synequin but really think he was better on the Mobifor VS that's why.

I was about to order the Riaflex Complete but decided to put this on the forum for feedback / recommendations.
It appears that Suppleaze is more popular - but naturally every horse is different.
I'm also wondering how many loading days when you see a difference - 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 6 weeks?

Another one for Suppleaze Gold. Friesian just diagnosed with mild arthritis in both coffin joints. Put him on Suppleaze Gold about a month ago. Brill now - much freer. Economical too

I started my 17 year old driving mare the loading dose of Riaflex Complete 23 days ago - she has just been diagnosed with DJD in knees and Stifle this winter but am already starting to see a difference although now weather has turned wet and colder it does affect her. Vet also prescribed 1 sachet of Danilon per day. I have had quite lengthy e mails with Kate Williams and found her to be very honest and knowledgeable with her answers and Riaflex does have the best loading of pure ingredients that I could find throughout loads of other products. Time will tell but I feel much happier about my mare than I did when she was first diagnosed! I very much agree that it is trial and error. I also found Global Herbs Movefree to be good throughout last Summer but changed her to the Glucosomine route to hopefully slow the progression.

Hi, Interested to know how Arthritic your TB is as how you are managing him/her i.e. amount of exercise etc. Sorry to sound a novice with this but I have not had much experience of the condition and was very upset to learn my 15.5 driving mare has succumbed to it - she's a beautiful, 100% bombproof driver and I want to do as much as I can for her as you can imagine. Would welcome your advice please Sheila C. Thanks!

My horse had very obvious SI damage 2 years ago, and after a vet check up on Tuesday for an unrelated thing, she says she wouldn't even know he has soreness there now, and that's thanks mainly to suppleaze gold, so a big thumbs up from me.

If he did well on mobifor, then I would try NAF 5 star superflex (mobifor is just the "vet strength" version of superflex). I have had good results on this (better than mobifor). No change at all with riaflex and I fed it at the loading dose for about a month.

Have just bought some suppleaze to try - I have tried practically every joint supplement around!

If you are buying a joint supplement, you should be looking for loaded dose of 10g MSM 10g Glucosamine and 4g Chondroitin for it to have any effect at all.I researched this on this page on another thread. The only 1 joint supplement I know where you can feed those exact doses for less than 41 per month in Riaflex. Synequin is very expensive and Suppleaze Gold doesn't actually state how much MSM or HA your horse would get in a 10ml scoop. Plus to get 10g Glucosamine and 4g Chondroitin you would have to feed 2 scoops which works out much more expensive for older horses or horses with joint problems such as Arthritis. My 23 year old is no longer stiff and I had to cut the doseage back from 2.5 scoops( fully loaded dose) Riaflex to 2 scoops as he was acting like a 4yr old rearing and broncing around the field a lot, and I was scared he would do himself an injury! But he went from noticeably stiff to having far too many bennys around the field as he was obv feeling so good in 7 days. My instructor noticed the difference and my saddler commented on how free moving he is for his age! I am converted to Riaflex and would never use anything else now.

Check this and be aware that many joint supplements have a loading dose, standard and maintenance dose etc To get recommended dose you often have to feed the loading dose rather than the maintenance dose.

So the front of the tub may say 120 days supply but that is the maintenance dose, when you look at feeding the loading dose to get the recommended mg then you are suddenly looking at 30 days supply and it doesn't seem so cheap.

BTW suppleaze does day how much of everything if you go to the ingredients list on their page.
