My mastiff is 10 and is finding it hard to get up in the morning.
She has been getting stiffer over the last year but now she just finds it hard to get up after a nights sleep. Once she is up she is fine. A bit wobbly for a few seconds but then ok.
I dont think she is in any pain but clearly her back legs are not as strong as they were.

Also since my mums accident she has not been getting the same amount of exercise during the day as my dad used to let them out in the garden during the day and now they are cooped up in the house.

I was just wondering if something like glucosamine would help or whether there is something else she could have that would help a bit.

Or I may start her swimming to improve her fitness. She hates it but I think it may help.

It is just very difficult taking her out on her own for swimming as the other dog goes mental!

Just looking for suggestions really!

I am a great believer in Equine America's Canine Cortaflex, my elderly whippet could not get out of her bed in the morning and after 7 days on this supplement she was much much better. Her daughter who is now 14 herself has just started on it.

Apple cider vinegar & ester-C are really good, had an old lab that was a bit creaky getting up & when I put him on one caplet of Ester-C he eased up quickly & didn't crack! Plus they are both easy on the pocket! Not that our dogs health should be a money concern!

I think you should try cortaflex. we give it to the horses and we gave it to our dog when he was old. It made it a lot easier for him, and he even started running around again! it was great to see him happy in his last years of life. I think cortaflex is a great think for older dogs and any age horses

I have had my old lurcher on pedigree chum joint care sticks for 6months now. she has one every night before bed when the others have their dental chews and its made the world of difference. i was very dubious but she was so stiff it was worth a go and i have been amazed with the results, havent seen her struggle to get up in the morning for 5 months now.
