Hi, new here !
looking for any feedback on a supplement called Crosulin (think it’s fairly new on the market) which has been prescribed by my vet for my ‘treated as EMS’ gelding. We are only on day 5 but keen to hear people’s experiences of the product

Hi, just wonder how you got on with Crosulin as I'm considering giving it a go.

Mine is on Metaslim from Simple Systems, and. think it is helping to hold his weight down while he is at grass. He looks amazing too, good feet, glossy coat etc.

For over £80 a month there are better things to feed!

Analytical Ingredients
Composition:
Green Flour, Barley, Oat Bran bran, Wheat Bran, Yeast, Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa pastoris), Spirulina, Extruded Linseed, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride

Analytical Constituents:
Crude Protein 18.98 %, Crude Fat 3.60 %, Crude Fibre 9.63 %, Crude Ash 11.24 %.

Additives per kg:
Flavour and appetite stimulating substances:
Hawthorn Extract 20,000 mg, Gingko Extract 24,000 mg, Fenugreek Extract 10,000 mg.

Nutritional Additives:
L-Carnitine (3a910) 25,000 mg, Vitamin E (3a700) 3,500 mg, Vitamin B1 (3a821) 350 mg, Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin E101)
650 mg, Vitamin B6 (3a831) 350 mg, Vitamin B12 50 mcg.
Trace Elements:
Biotin (3a880) 8,000 mcg, Manganese (Maganese Chelate of Glycerol Hydrate E5) 970 mg, Selenium (Sodiumselenite E8)
10 mg, Zinc (Zincoxide 3b603) 5,000 mg.

Feed a decent mineral balancer from somewhere like progressive earth, they do a very basic one that you can add to that costs about £5 a month or more expensive but much better spec than the above that cost about £35/40. I feed the cheap one and add magnesium, vitamin e and some other bits and bobs to suit mine, but I do like to faff. Most people dont.

Alcar is very cheap to buy as well. The rest are miniscule amounts of herbs which you could add if you wanted but I dont think I'd bother. You could feed a deccent pre/pro biotic which is also cheap, or stick some brewers yeast in which is pennies.

I'm waiting for the results of our EMS and Cushings tests, just looking what's out there in case of worse case scenario.

Thank you, I'll take a look at what you've recommended ?

I've looked at this but the lucerne/alfalfa puts me off.

It put me off too, but I was persuaded to try it after I also tried some Lucie Stalks as chaff. I thought the Lucerne would kick off his Mallenders, but his legs look the best they ever have done, with NO treatment. I did supplement with Vitamin D though, and I think that is what cleared up the Mallenders.

I guess they are all different, and it is tricky to know what to do for the best!

Hi ! Well we only used one tub of the Crosulin and he was away at boot camp during the time he was on it - to be honest I'm not sure how much benefit it had as he was on a strict diet and worked 6 days a week. I also had an independent nutritionist out to him and we changed his diet which he is still on now and at his re-weigh last week he had lost 19kg (we were aiming for 12kg in 8 weeks) He still has a crest which has reduced and is still very soft, although the nutritionist feels it may always be his nemesis :( I do feel exercise has contributed massively to the changes and also his diet. He is also out grazing in a Greenguard muzzle and generally loving life. Hope this helps !

Fab, thanks so much!

Ours too has a crest, albeit it's soft, I think it will always be his nemesis and we'll have to keep a close eye! ? X

I buy ours from Clarendon Equine. We're on the 2nd tub but I'm not sure if it's helping or not, although our ponys crest and fat pads have gone but that could be the restricted diet and exercise.
