Supplement for horse with poor skin

Hi everyone

I’ve owned my horse for 6 months now. When I got her her skin was very flakey and generally in poor condition. It’s getting better each day with good grooming and a balancer but she has caught mites and has had a bad reaction to it. The vet has been up and given her an injection and I have a medicated shampoo and spray to keep treating her. I also am disinfecting her stable and cleaning everything (rugs, tack etc) but I was wondering if there is a supplement I can give her to help her overall skin condition and keep the mites at bay. Also our fields are very muddy so I’m also worried about mud fever so wondering if there is a supplement I could give her to help continue building up the quality of her skin to help her.

any thoughts or suggestions would be amazing! She is a Connie x ISH and is rising 5

For general skin health linseed oil does wonders, but can put a bit too much condition on! I’d also pop her on a good general vit and min supplement.

I would also recommend linseed progressive earth supplements or equimins for general well being, if a horse has been run down or under fed for whatever reason I would go to the best of what I could afford.

have you ever had bloods run? there might be an underlying condition? we get rescues in with awful skin at times, but they usually clear up quite fast. the ones that don't usually have underlying stuff that is making them more susceptible to things?

yes she has a complete bill of health including bloods

her skin isn’t awful. It’s miles better than it was but it’s just this is our first winter together and another horse in her field got mites and I think she caught them off her. I’m just trying to keep her skin in the best condition I can and keep improving her overall condition
