My mare is coming up to 8, warmblood, big mare at about 16.3". She had very bad colic a few months ago (no surgery) and her stomach hasn't quite recovered since. The vet has been consulted and apparently it is quite normal for it to take a good few months before things are back to normal. Bloods etc were run when she had the colic and after and there isn't anything abnormal. She drinks a lot more water than she used to after the colic, but again vet said this is not unusual.
She doesn't have diarrhea, but the droppings are very loose. If we have a particularly potent batch of haylage it gets worse. I suppose switching to hay would be an option, but very impractical, so if there is an easier solution I'd be keen to try it first.
She is a competition horse (show jumping), in pretty hard work. She is a good doer so no issue with weight loss. She is very happy and healthy in herself.
Unfortunately she is a grey so I'd happily spend my money on a supplement rather than on endless special shampoos/tail socks etc to keep her tail clean
Is there a supplement I can try? Would love some advice. Thank you.
