Wasn’t sure where to post this!
I have a horse with the worst, thinnest mane on the planet so I’ve hogged in the hope it will grow back thicker as right now, I would get about 4 plaits (horse is 17.2!) and they would honestly be the size of peas so it’s pointless. If it doesn’t then I’ll just keep hogged but he would look so lovely with a nice mane. Is there a product out there that genuinely helps it grow thicker/longer? I’ve used the supreme products one before but didn’t have much luck. Just looked up this one https://naked-horse.com/products/regrow-equine-hair-regrowth-treatment which has good reviews. I’ve also heard feeding biotin helps?
any help gratefully received!

MTG is the best thing used it on my Arab's for years and it definitely works, one of mine rubbed a whole gap in his mane last summer and I applied it 3 times a week and within about 4 months you could hardly see it.

I've had success with Megatek. Manes rubbed out at the end of the winter have been plaitable by the autumn.
My guys are also fed on Equerry Conditioning Mash and their manes/tails/coats and hooves are in fabulous condition

i tried the msm plus and found it made my boy's mane and tail very scaly. he does have sweet itch but it did seem to be quite powerful and cause his skin to peel. i wonder if anyone else has found this

Anyone know what the active ingredient(s) are in the MTG?

I have a patch of tail rubbed out and although there is decent growth even in the 3 weeks since she did it I won't say no to a helping hand. I won't apply anything that doesn't tell me what's in it tho ?

If he just has a thin mane genetically rather than because it got rubbed out then there aren't any potions that will work. The best thing you can do is not brush it and pull more out.

My spotty horse doesn't grow much mane so I just trim any longer wispy bits and compete her unplaited.

You could probably email them maybe?

MTG don't smell nice it stinks and it's greasy as hell I think its got sulphur in it as the yellow bit sinks to the bottom so you have to shake it really well to mix it up.

Mostly what works is time. All these “I used X and within four months he had a lovely bushy tail/mane/used-to-be-baldy bit” would have grown in anyway.

My YO was raving about this product this morning.

This stuff seems to work well. It's a bit messy to apply though, but no pain, no gain. I've used it on both mine (a Highland who rubbed out a chunk of his mane, and an Irish cob who did the same!!) and seen very good re-growth results.

I've used this very successfully on my Fell pony's mane. The regrowth is much stronger and doesn't come out as easily.

You definitely need to wear gloves though.

shapleys msm plus - tried it again as a patch test. definitely won't use it again as the area has reacted to what ever chemicals are in the product.
