I am looking for a broad spectrum supplement/balancer for my thoroughbred. I have narrowed it down to Formula4Feet and Top Spec Comprehensive. Any views/opinions?

Topspec without a doubt

Why those two? I have my mare on Bailey's Lo Cal and so do most of the people I know, and they have always had good results with various types of horse (fatties, skinnies, nutcases and all sorts). Lo Cal is the cheapest pelleted balancer as well.
I don't have all that much experience with F4F, but we use TopSpec at work and it's great stuff. They all look very healthy on it and even the fussy eaters are happy with it. F4F smells a bit! I'd personally go for the cheapest, which in my case was Lo Cal but if you're set on the F4F or the TopSpec, get the cheapest.
Is there anything specific you wanted to feed it for?

I chose these two because they seemed to be the most comprehensive ones available. Hadn't really considered Lo-Cal to be honest. There is no specific reason, it is just that he will be on quite restricted grazing over the winter so I want to make sure he isn't missing out on anything. His feet are average and I would like him to have something for his joints. Also, any calming effect they may have would be a great bonus! (Sounds like I need a miracle, not a supplement!)

After some adivce from HHO this is what I've gone for. Thumper doesn't have great feet, so I'm going to give this a go.

I'd suggest TopSpec then, as it has glucosamine and MSM in where Lo Cal doesn't (which is another reason I chose Lo Cal, as my horse is already on a joint supplement so there was no need to spend more money on over-dosing her!).
If I were you I'd ring the TopSpec helpline, they're friendly people and will help you out wherever they can

Just looked on the Top Spec website, is there any difference between feeding the Comprehensive Balancer or the Comprehensive Supplement? The supplement is cheaper?

I love Topspec, fantastic stuff! My horse looks great and he had dreadful feet and the improvement is amazing I will be feeding this forever!

Equimins advanced concentrate balancer! Cream of em all!!! And as it is a concentrated balancer you feed hardly anything////
can buy it direct for £29 delivered free......
Fab stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

My boy wouldnt eat the top spec comprehensive powder! Same stuff thats in the pelleted version ...

xx

Another Top Spec fan here too. Our horses are all barefoot and have fantastic feet because of this. Plus shiny coats and everything else too. You only feed a tiny amount and it works miracles!

Nicola Tyler at Top Spec is fantastic, well worth giving her a call to go through the options with her. No hard sell either which is alwas refreshing!
