supplements for a pulled muscle??

To elaborate, he' s pulled a hamstring and is currently walking in hand and having physio. the more he walks, the better he gets - to a point, then he gets sore - like anyone with a pulled muscle

Sometimes he is more sore than other times, obviously related to having exerted himself more (he's not the most patient patient!)

I was wondering if there was anything that I could feed that would help the muscle heal more quickly, that was all.

I am not planning on wasting my money, merely trying to help him get better quicker.

Not sure, but I am currently feeding Equistop Myoplast. Given to me by vet to help muscle recovery after 2 bouts of azoturia.

I'm assuming it helps with muscle damage......bit concerned that I have no idea what it's costing me - will find out when I get bill at end of month !!!!!

Eeeeek! Just looked online and it looks like it's going to cost me about £75 a month minimum........!

It had better bloomin work...and the insurance better bloomin cover it too!!!

As long as your horse is getting a balanced diet, it's only time and appropriate exercise that will heal a pulled muscle. If you ask yourself what would you do/want if you pulled a muscle? Correct diet is the starting point but if it was me, I'd appreciate tons of tlc, good nursing, deep massages, pain relief if necessary, cool pack on the damaged area. If you translate all that into horse you won't be far wrong x

Nothing in particular. Redcell or equivilant might be useful. or Equitop Myoplast - we are starting to use this, but havent yet any patients on it long enough to say it hepls or not.
