Ok guys if I said my horse feels like an ironing board in his ability to bend round my leg what exercises would you suggest?

Yes teeth back saddle all fine. He has always been a bit stiff as he is big long and weak behind but he is improving and now I finally have him moving forward its more apparent!

I am thinking some stretchiung exercises with carrots that I used to do with my old horse will help but what are good ridden exercises?

Ok so no one has any suggestions then. please help I have a bad head cold, I dont feel very well at all and I am trying to fill in my tax form I really need some fun exercises to supple my boy before the Tax man drags me off to prison!!!

Trotting poles. Leg yielding - decrease circle and leg yield out, turns on forehand, etc. Transitions within the pace as well as from 1 pace to another. Keep improving his reaction to your leg. All these should help. With the trotting poles you can do all sorts of exercises as well as trotting over them. Put them further apart and walk serpentines in and out of them, walk over 1 cicle round end then over 1 and 2 and repeat circle round end of 2 then over 2 and 3 etc., figure 8 over each pole in turn in walk. Any exercises like these help to keep the interest and encourage horse to use himself. Have fun.

ooh thanks too late for today but we did do trotting poles in a fan so we could alter the distance and torot through them etc. Felt he was a little better today but have a lesson on wednesday where I am bound to be sorted out.
