Hi,

Im currently debating what to feed my horse suppliment wise and would love some reccomendations.

He is a good doer, slightly overweight so needs nothing that will make him any fatter. I also dont want extra energy as he has plenty of that.
The reason im looking for a suppliment is to hopefully improve his general health, improve the quality of his coat and also improve his feet as they are pretty weak and crack easily. Obviously im aware i may not be able to achieve this in one suppliment!

He is currently fed a tiny bit of happy hoof, as he lives off fresh air.

Any ideas?

Oh and also i would like to ask about garlic, does it actually work in repelling flies or as a suppliment?

Hiya,

I feed my gelding:

Spillers Happy Hoof (double handful 2x a day)
Codlivine Vits & Mins supplement (1 scoop 2x a day)
Free access to rock salt lump in his stable

I choose Codlivine because it contains Cod Liver Oil so no need for extra supplements there and I don't feed extra garlic as Happy Hoof contains it

I didnt even know happy hoof has garlic lol, shows how much attention i pay to the ingredients!!

I will certainly go have a look for that ali thanks!
He has access to a horselyx (but gets most on his face)

What about Slimline from NAF? One of the ponies on the yard is on it and looks great! its multi vits and mins plus a slimming aid and magnesium for weight loss (got this off their website!)

Recommend a powdered GP vit/min supplement (examples; D&H Surelimb, Equivite, Codlivine all pretty much the same thing)

My advice to you is under no circumstances ,feed cod liver oil to horses.except under VETERINARY advice.
It is far too rich in vitamin D.
