Hi guys, Im wonmdering what other things i could give daphi as a treat and things to include in her teatime meal. Ive heard of all sorts of things from garlic to mint. and things to make the coat shine to things to help with muscles. so im kinda lost.

she currently is out at grass all day, has when she comes in at night and i give her apples and carrots as a treat.( oh and polos lol)

But is there anything most horses generally like? thats actually good for them too!

Obviously id prefer something that would help with her stiff legs! so any suggestions? thanks in advance Jordan

pears, bananas, plums (stoned) and a vitamin supplement like equivite

Thats a bit broad. Stiffness can be improved by a mobility suppliment such as D&H mobility or prehaps a glucosamine suppliment with chrontin and MSM in it.

Otherwise a good feed balancer and garlic is all i would feed..

i wouldnt supplement a horses feed unless it actually needs it, however if you say she is quite stiff perhaps some codliver oil would b good for her, it will put a shine on the coat aswell.

Before considering supplements you need to analyse her overall diet. What hard feed does she get, and how much per day? Do you feed hay, haylage, or a mixture of the two? One thing that is good for overall condition and helpful for stiff joints is linseed, which you can feed ready cooked, or in oil form. I feed it ready cooked and give 50g a day for skin condition/health...you can feed up to a mugful a day though.

I feed glucosamine msm to my elderly thoroughbred to help stiffness. The vet recommended this & some people give it as a preventative measure to younger horses.

if a horse dont need supplements dont give it but you say your horse is a little stiff i would just start off with a little cod liver oil, apple cider vinger, nettle herb, one of those should help if yu see no inprovement within about 6 weeks she my need something stronger with a bit of glucosumin in it!
