Are there any suppliments or feeds etc that can be fed to help with respiration?

My horse seems to get a very mild cough if stabled for a long time, which isn't normally a problem as we have daily turnout, but he's just coming off some box rest so the dust will have got to him a bit. Vet is aware of the problem, said its nothing to worry about, checked his lungs etc and said it will get better with turnout

Horse is on straw and hay, this can't be changed at the yard we are at. Hay is always dampened down. Currently fed garlic and equinacea(sp?)

Is there anything else I could consider feeding just to help with his respiration?

I've had good results with NAF Respirator.

My pony used to have a dry cough, we think caused by pollen, vet prescibed Ventipulmin which worked initially but cough came back, I gave him the NAF Respirator and he barely coughed again - I also soaked his hay.

He is mainly out 24/7 and at a different yard - touchwood hasn't needed it but will start giving it to him Spring for when pollen comes out again.

Thankyou!!

I'm pretty sure my local saddlery do both Global Herbs and Naf products, so shall take a trip over tomorrow with my purse!!

Thanks!!

winergy ventilate is the best I've tried, and also best value for money I've tried (my pony has chronic COPD, even with haylage and dustfree bedding).

Have tried most things but not global herbs, but am going to give them a go as so impressed with their other products.

Everything else about the yard is fantastic, and the only place around us which gives all year turnout

I think ending up somewhere which meant keeping the horses in for weeks at a time in winter, regardless of bedding, would be worse than what we have now.

I could change him to shavings, however, the stables are very open plan, and even the vet said one horse on shavings would make no difference to a dusty barn

The only reason why we have the problem is due to box rest, as vet said its not even serious, but for horses sake thought I would consider a suppliment if we ever end up on box rest again

Global herbs does seem popular! Will be looking out for those tomorrow

global herbs airways plus gets my vote too. Always clears up a cough in a few days.Big fan of theirs, bute-x and lamiprone also work wonders
