Surface crack in hoof

So just recently I noticed a surface crack in my horses hoof. It is the same hoof as last year when I got him that had a crack in it. Again it was surface and the vet wasn't bothered at the vetting about it and nor was i.

But now that it's back again in the same place going about halfway up his hoof I am a little concerned. It doesn't look as bad and he definitely isn't lame. He gets biotin every day and I put on conditioning stuff when they look a bit too dry.

Could it just be the fairly sudden change from soft ground to hard ground? Or should I be more concerned and try different feed? I sadly can't get the usual farrier out til next week as the lucky woman is away to compete at badminton.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Many reasons for cracks appearing

is it a sand crack or grass grack - heel crack - bar cracks or toe cracks

trauma
dry hooves
infections

how deep it is and if effecting the under layers which cause pain
These were my mares before and after by far the worst I have seen on the yard but not that I experianced

How did you correct these HGA-12?

My pony's have done something similar recently. Not quite as severe but the backs look similar and the front left has lost a huge chunk :/ Farrier has just said reduce trimming time and feed biotin. He is having a cushings test next week for other reasons but I'm curious to see if anyone thinks the change in hooves could be related?

farrier/ time/ good food and the key was hoof mender by Equimins.

He did had to work at stopping the crack carrying on
