Surge on a saddle and showing?

I have narrowed my choices down to getting a Humphries and Swain saddle.But can you show if the surge is visable on the saddle? Only asking as I recall someone saying you can't so not sure on the matter. Thanks for any help in advance.

Absolutely, I showed in serge panel saddles by the same makers on a cob and riding horse, and also an Anglo Arab, the latter winning reserve national champion!

What EE has said ^ serge is fine, have also not been pipped down with it at RIHS etc

Years ago, when I was a youngster, serge was far more common than leather linings, also linen was popular, and still is in the old style hunting saddles favoured by some older showing riders, and also side saddles.
