My horse has a small odd shaped piece of bone right at his coffin joint that is to be removed in 6 weeks.
He was x-rayed as he was lame off and on and it was found. It is not in the joint, but sits just above it.
The only possible place it has come from is the pedal bone has a small patch where it looks almost like a small shadow. vet thinks this slither of bone may have come off when he was very young, but the bone has healed itself.
the bone is less than 1mm wide by approx 5mm long
Has anyone had this sort of surgery in the hoof area?
What sort of after care was involved, box rest for how long etc.
He is getting it taken out via keyhole surgery and the vet said it is not a major op.
I know he will give me all the info in 6 weeks, but just wanted an idea of what will happen afterwards so i can make sure i am all prepared and can arrange time off work to give him some TLC.
Thanks
