surpising amount of bone or not really?

my mare had physio the other day and whilst she was there she measured how much 'bone' she has.
she's a sturdy little welsh cob with 7 3/4 inches of bone, that's only a quarter less than the other two cobs on the yard (14.3 and 15.3, though the 15.3 is still growing).
I'd have thought she'd have less bone at her height but the physio made a comment about good breeding and things ergo better bone and confo etc..
is that usual for a 13.3 cobby or do they usually have less.

couldn't tell you what is usual for that size but if it helps as a comparison my 2 year old stands a 15.1/2 is still growing and currently has 9 1/2 inches of bone!! :O

Where are you measuring as TB have more bone than that?

I would have said that was about right really. Both my pure bred Arab and my Arab x NF had 8 inches of bone. I also have a mighty horse with 10.5 inches of bone I am not sure how he crept in amongst all the fairy footed ones!

Ron is 16.2 and has 9 inches. my old welsh cob (15hh ish) had 8 inches of bone I think.
