Surrey Farriers COST ??

I'm in surrey and pay £65 for a full set, don't have road nails though. Price is all inclusive, never had separate call out / travel charges from any of the farriers that I've used.

Sounds about right. I pay £127 every five weeks for 6 shoes as one only shod in front - always have road nails and will be adding stud holes as of next week. The joys of horse ownership!

No - diesel is included in price.

Am just over border into Kent.

Current pony not shod but was paying £85-90 for full set + pins if not shared call out ! ( Sussex )

I am in Surrey

One remedial farrier is £108 for a full set that does about 5 horses on my yard.

My farrier is about £100 for a normal set of shoes, and £70 if done by the apprentices.

Think other farriers (is a big yard) are £70-£85 for a set.

I'm in Surrey, my farrier is £60 for a full set plus £1 per stud hole. He charges £20 to trim my youngster who isn't shod. He doesn't charge mileage/fuel. I don't think i have even been charged for fuel, even when i've had farriers out just doing one horse.

We're in the Midlands and farrier charges £55 for a full set. No extra charge or call out for single horses.
Why would farriers charge more in other parts of the country ? Surely, equipment, fuel and tax are the same as everywhere else.

I'm in a rather affluent part of Surrey and pay £69 for a full set with road nails, no extra callout charge and if my horse loses a shoe my farrier puts it back on free of charge. My farrier is rather modern and lets me pay online too!

Because property prices and cost of living are higher in some parts of the country than others, so farriers in those areas have to charge more to be able to make a decent living.

I'm in Surrey and I used to pay £75 for a full set (excluding road nails but they are only a couple of pounds), but have now taken off my mare's back shoes so now only pay half. One of my fellow liveries pays £85 for a full set.

A basic full set is £70 no travel charge (big yard, farrier gets a lot of business!). Full set of road nails all round +£8, stud holes £1.25 each.

im in oxon and pay £75 for full set. other farriers that visit my yard charge £85-90 but after talking to them, some have to charge more as they are VAT registered and employ apprentices or do specialised work, which they have to pass on to the customer and accounts for the varying prices you may get from farriers in the same locality

Am NW Surrey
Just changed farriers as old 1 moving next month right out of the area.
Old farrier was £60 set, £35 per half set plus £1 per roadnail, £20 a trim.
New Farrier is £75 a set, £40 per half set plus £1 per roadnail & £20 a trim.
No extra charges for fuel etc, tho mandatory cuppa lobbed in ;)
I could go to the forge for same prices, but this saves me wheeling out the lorry......
