Surrey Horse communities online?

Hi folks!

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any horse communities in the area? Ages ago I used to be on the Surrey Horse and Pony FB group. Moved away from the area and am now back in the area due to work. However, the group I recall seems to have simply vanished, I can't find them anywhere on my FB page so perhaps they've folded.

Anyway, I was mostly curious about whether anyone could have recommended any horse welfare / rescue yards within a rough proximity of the Reigate area. That group was really good for those sorts of questions!

As someone who's handled rescue horses, and done RDA volunteering I thought it'd be worth finding out if someone nearby would love a bit of extra horsy help in my spare time. Plus it would be a really good excuse to perhaps meet some new people as I'm totally new to the area.

Alternatively, I was thinking of something along the lines of another share although I'm not sure if I'm ready for the commitment of one right now. However, back home I've brought on a lovely project Hano x Sec D youngster for a yard in my spare time as a freebie. So I was even thinking of something along thse lines of this as well.

Any wisdom would be fab.

Yes - the facebook page definitely still exists.

The only rescue organisation I know of locally is Mane Chance outside Guildford. But there are several RDA schools locally who would love help.

OK thanks. THe other day I noticed another place just outside Crawley, on the north side. At first I thought it was a travellers camp but saw a big sign saying horse rescue of some sort. Wonder if that place rings a bell with anyone here.

Might be Kilmarnock Horse Rescue, that's near Crawley though not sure where. There is also Crawley Horse Network on FB.

Oh thanks, mind telling me a bit more? I'm based on the western side of Horley so I'm assuming I may be quite close.

Interestingly enough, despite the convenience of FB I've found the old fashioned tack shop small ads to be really good. Don't suppose anyone can make any recommendations on some good local bill boards?
