As part of my University course, we have to investigate a current issue within the equine industry, I have chosen to do mine on frangible pins and their impact on rider safety.

If anyone else has a spare 5 minutes in their day I would appreciate it if you could respond using the link below to help me to do this.

I would also appreciate it if you could share this post with at least two others so I can gain a wider range of responses. Thank you :)

Done. I would suggest you get in touch with be as they may be able to provide you with loads of info....

Thankyou ☺️ I shall be contacting BE and looking through their downloadable documents on falls and frangible pins/safety mechanisms on xc courses in the coming days 😁

Why is it limited to frangible pins ? There are many other ways of reducing accidents at CC fences that BE employ and frangible pins will very soon be phased out mainly due to expense and new ways of achieving the same outcome .

Good question! I limited my study to the use of frangible pins as I wanted to keep it as specific as possible as to avoid overfacing my self for this assignment due to it only being my first year at degree level. On top of this, the other safety mechanisms which BE can employ on the CC fences will be used within a conclusion for my study and findings, ie are they the solution or do others (as you have rightly said) reduce accidents further than frangible pins alone. Furthermore, I assumed that frangible pins would be more well known to those who both compete in and out of the sport and therefore I would be able to gain a wider demographic within my responses. If I were to do this study on a wider scale (with more than 3-4 weeks to do it!), I would expand my range of questions to include a broader variety of safety equipment. :)

The MIM clip will replace Pins very shortly as they acan be used across the whole range of fences as FPs are very limited in their use as they only suit rails. BE have collapsible tables and corners being tested this year using the clip system.
