Can you please complete this survey below if you have attended and or competed in any type of Equine events in the last 5 years.

As part of my university degree i am undertaking a survey to see if there has been an increase/ decrease overall in equine events, if financial circumstances effect the choice and what could be done to improve this and there will be other comparisions made once the data has been collected.
In the box at the end of the survey you can put any additional information that may help in completing this research, for example if you compete is the fees reduced/ paid for by sponsorships e.c.t.

Once you have complete my survey if you can pass it along it be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I suggest that you edit your OP so that those members who are over 55 don't waste their time opening your survey, as there are a lot of helpful older members on here.

Can I ask why you are only interested n the views of the under 55's? Or was it just that you couldn't imagine any-one getting to more than that great age?

I think this was on here before, I remember some of the bizarre questions.

I am unsure of the difference between the question that asks

"How much do you spend, attending equine events per year (including entrance fee, travel and accommodation)? "

and

"If applicable how much do you spend, competing per year(including competition fee, travel and accommodation)? "

I am also still unsure as to the difference between Horse Trials and Eventing for the purpose of your survey?

It is better than the previous incarnation, but as I don't understand three of the questions, I have not submitted.

so I spend quite a lot at burghley, I'm definitely not competing there ;)

Hi Red.
The 2 questions on about expediture is to see if it has increased/ decreased. With the various factors including recession and post brexit e.c.t

Hi Red.
So the first two question are about how much you spend, the reason why i have asked these questions is that i can compare the difference after the recession and before the brexit. Also, to see if the spending trend is affecting the events.
Thanks

we've resolved that one ;)

its the horse trials/eventing that are still a bit of a conundrum.

So i decied to keep tge seperate because there is events which are like Bramham , badmington, burghley and Blenheim all of which are classified as 'Horse trial.'

Where as for example the British eventing runs event/ shows under the name as 'Eventing'.
Yes i know they both include - Dressage. Showjumping and cross country but there is a definate dived in the event type/ name hence why they are a seperate tick box, so if you attend both you would tick boxed however say someone says they go to the badmington horse trials they wont tick eventing? which was hightlighted in my sample size of 5people which was done as a pilot study.

Thank you 😁

I think maybe your pilot sample was a bit small, horse trials and eventing are definitely the same thing for anyone that actually knows what they are watching and I would have thought the levels part would have been captured in the local/regional/national/international question.

So, I have competed in BHTA and BE events, as in one day events. Also regional Finals. Also CCI* (3 day eventing) both long and short formats. I believed Horse trials to be an old fashioned term. I see you are running a different scheme of definition, to what level CCI to you ascribe Horse Trials to be from, and what do you ascribe "Eventing?"

I can rather intimate your hypotheses from the questions and the logic is A-B-C-Z. My opinion on the state of the equine industry (in which I do not work, so which has no bearing on my previous responses) has no connection to my attendance at events. I attend fewer events because I have less spare time, because I changed job and am trying to do more at home with my own horse. Multiple choice questionnaires and inferential statistics are a dangerous combination in the hands of the untrained.

Are you sure it’s laeful to exclude the over 55’s ?
They aren't excluded as per the screen shot above, so try loading the page again.

and if they were excluded it would be, I complete plenty of surveys that have been through full ethics approval that are age restricted.
